プレイリストに入れたい曲：ぜったくん「ビュンビュン逃飛行」 Songs to Add to My Playlist: ‘Whiz Whiz Fly Away’ by Zettakun

　ウキウキします。軽快な曲調がたまりません。8月の末にリリースされたこの曲は、ちょっと落ち込んでる時にも元気をもらえる曲です。もう2か月くらいたつのに、まだプレイリストに入れたまま楽しんでいます。

　It is exhilarating. The lilting melodies are so good. This song, which was released at the end of August, gives me a lift even when I a bit feel down. I've kept it in my playlist for almost two months, and I still enjoy it even now.

　可愛さと可笑しみにあふれた素敵な歌詞です。日常の生活感を織り込みながら、そこから飛び出していく痛快さにあふれています。「ドラえもんは休憩中」や「孫悟空と並走中」といった遊び心あふれる歌詞に、笑顔にならずにいられません。

　The lyrics are so cute and humorous. You can see there our daily lives and the exhilaration of getting out of it. I cannot help smiling when I hear some parts like “Doraemon is taking a break now”, ‘Songoku is flying side by side with us’, and so on.

　ぜったくんは、2020年にメジャーデビューした、町田市出身のラッパーです。インタビュー記事を読みましたが、幼少期にはSMAPを聴いて育ったのだそうです。「サビやフックの部分はめちゃくちゃキャッチーにする」を心掛けているとのこと。世代を超えて響く曲が次々と生まれてくる今のシーンに目が離せません。

　Zettakun is a rapper, who debuted from a major label in 2020, from Machida city. I read some interviews which said that he used to listen to SMAP, a famous Japanese Idol band, in his childhood. His motto is “Be sure to make chorus or hook so catchy”. I cannot take my eyes off the current music scene where so many timeless songs are being produced these days.

プレイリストに入れたい曲：サバシスター「ジャージ」 Songs to Add to My Playlist: ‘Jersey’ by Sabasister

　この勢いたまりません。痛快にキャッチーです。いっしょに歌いたくなります。気持ちよくって身体が動きます。若者からおじさんまでノレル曲です。自分の中で、2022年心のヒット曲ベスト５入り決定してしまいました。3人組のガールズバンド、サバシスターによる「ジャージ」は、問答無用のアゲアゲ曲です。

　I was impressed by its great momentum. It's so catchy. it makes me feel like singing along. It makes me feel so good that I move to it without knowing it. It is the kind of song which can entertain both youngsters and oldsters. I’ve already decided it as one of 2022’s top five in my mind. This song called ‘Jersey’ by Sabasister, a band with three girls, is absolutely an uplifting song.

　この歌詞の可笑しみはどうでしょう。そもそもジャージです。それだけで笑顔になります。でもところどころに素敵な詩心を感じます。「最近のあなたといったら　わたしの夢に出てこなくなりました」って、なんかささります。ボーカルのちょっと投げやりな歌い方はこの曲の雰囲気にぴったりで、そしてなぜか元気をもらえます。

　The lyrics are quite hilarious. The fact that they chose jersey as the title in the first place makes me smile. However, somehow I feel some poetic talent in the lyrics too. I’m hooked on the part, “As for you these days,　you never show up in my dream” .  The cheeky way of singing by the vocalist goes so well with the vibes of this song, and somehow it gives me a lift.

　サバシスターは今年の3月に活動を開始したばかりのバンドの模様。9月14日にタワレコから出したEP「鯖の壱」は、現在サブスクでも聴くことができます。この「ジャージ」を含む4曲しか収録していませんが、どれも秀逸です。ネットのインタビュー記事を読みましたが、バンド名のサバシスターには特に意味はないとのこと。フルアルバムが楽しみなバンドです。

　Sabasister debuted in March this year. They released an EP from Tower Record on September 14^th and now it is available on some music apps. All the four titles including ‘Jersey’ are excellent. I read some interviews to them and learned that the band’s name Sabasister means nothing. I cannot wait to listen to their full album sometime in the future.

　この高揚感はどうでしょう。一部の隙も無くキャッチーです。8月26日にリリースされたこの曲は、Honda VEZEL e:HEVのCMソングになっています。

　It is so uplifting. Every part of this song is perfectly catchy. This song, which was released on August 26^th, is used as an ad jingle for Honda VEZEL eHEV.

　期待が膨らむAメロ。これサビ？と思う程気持ち良いBメロ。そして、物足りないぐらい短いけれども期待を裏切らない、爽快なサビに連れていかれます。さらに裏で遊ぶバックボーカルが心地よいCメロまで用意されているのが贅沢です。この曲に関しては、歌謡曲と呼びたくなるほど、由緒正しいJ-popです。CMで使われるのもうなずけます。

　The verse sounds promising. The bridge feels so good that it may make you think, “Is this the chorus?”. Then you’ll be carried away with the chorus, which is quite refreshing and perfectly lives up to your expectations, even though it’s too short. On top of that, this song even has another bridge with a back vocal that surely makes you feel good. As far as this song goes, I can call it a typical J-pop song. It deserves to be an ad jingle.

　しかし、そんな印象は9月14日にリリースされたアルバム「Titles」を聴くとまた変わると思います。1曲目の「Like」に８０年代のブリットポップを感じるのは自分だけでしょうか。わずか5曲のミニアルバムとはいえ、多様性とともに、このバンドのポテンシャルが十分に伝わる秀逸な仕上がりです。オフィシャルサイトの紹介文にある「グルーヴとジャンルレスな感覚で自由に遊ぶネクストエージ」という言葉が腑に落ちます。収録曲の１つ「Sailing day」は、ブルボン「アルフォート ミニチョコレート」CMソングに決定しているとのこと。バンド名のチルズポットは“chill, child, spot, pot”の4語を組み合わせた造語だそうです。音楽のよさを忘れている人たちに、自信をもってお勧めできるバンドです。

　However, you’ll have different impressions of this band once you listen to their latest album called ‘Titles’, released on September 14^th. As for the first track, I wonder if I am the only person who has a feeling that it has a vibe of a British pop music in the 80’s. Even though it is a mini album with only 5 songs, it is so excellent that you can tell their variety and potential. The words you can see in their official website, “ their songs are addictive and steal the hearts instantly of those who hear it”, are quite convincing. The 4^th track called ‘Sailing day’ is going to be used as an ad jingle for a snack called ‘Alfort mini chocolate’ by Bourbon, a snack company in Japan. The Band’s name chilldspot is a word coined combining 4 words, chill, child, spot, pot. I highly recommend this band to someone who has forgotten how good music is.

アルバムの感想：坂本慎太郎「物語のように」 My Impression of An Album: ‘LIKE A FABLE’ by Shintaro Sakamoto

　名盤です。普遍的な何かにあふれています。この夏、友人が送ってくれたもう一枚のアルバムがこれでした。昔、ゆらゆら帝国を初めて聴いたとき、強すぎる個性を感じて素直に聴けませんでした。時間が経ってあらためて聴きなおした時に、ようやくよさが分かり、自分の認識力のなさを思い知ったのを覚えています。このアルバムは坂本慎太郎さんにとって4枚目、前作から6年ぶりのソロアルバムになります。収録曲は次の通りです。

　It’s a masterpiece. It is also full of something timeless. The other album my friend sent me this summer was this one. In the past, when I listen to the songs by Yura Yura Teikoku, the band Sakamoto belonged to, for the first time, I couldn’t enjoy them very much because I felt they were too eccentric. I remember that I finally understood how good they were when I listened to them again after a long time, and I realized my inapprehension. This album is his 4^th solo album, and it was for the first time in 6 years for him to release the new one. All the tracks it has are as follows.

　この聴きやすさはどうでしょう。初期のビーチボーイズを思わせるようなギターのエフェクト、軽快なパーカッション、ところどころで入る女声コーラスがたまらなく気持ちいいです。坂本慎太郎さんらしい、飄々とした、誰にも迎合しない自由な気分はそのままに、ポップで明るい曲ばかりが並んでいます。楽器の構成、アレンジ共にシンプルで、オールディーズと呼んでいいような懐かしさまで感じます。

　It is so comfortable to listen to. I feel so good because of things like the guitar effects, which reminds me of The Beach Boys’ early songs, lilting percussion, female back vocal you can hear here and there, and so on. I can tell the lighthearted, free-minded vibe, which is Sakamoto’s characteristic, and all the songs are pop and cheerful. He didn’t use a lot of instruments in this album and the arrangement of every song is so simple that I can call them oldies and I felt even nostalgia.

　歌詞にあふれるユーモアは相変わらずです。そこが坂本慎太郎さんの魅力であることは間違いありません。でも、ディスク２にはインストが入っていて、こちらを聴くと楽曲自体の素性のよさにハッとさせられます。とっつきやすいうえに、聴けば聴くほど好きになるアルバムです。音源はサブスクにも公開されています。まだ聴かれていない方はぜひ。

　The lyrics are quite humorous as ever. Humor is one of Sakamoto’s attractiveness for sure. This album has two discs and disc 2 has instrumental tracks, and I was impressed by them because I realized how good his music is even without his singing voice. You’ll soon come to like this album, and the more you listen to it, the more you like it. All the tracks are available on music apps. I highly recommend you listen to them if you haven’t yet.

アルバムの感想：山下達郎「SOFTLY」 My Impressions of An Album: ‘SOFTLY’ by Tatsuro Yamashita

　前作「RAY OF HOPE」（2011）から11年ぶりのオリジナルアルバムです。この夏、友人が贈ってくれた2枚のアルバムの1枚がこれでした。サブスクでは聴くことができない山下達郎さんのCDを手にすることは、やっぱり特別な喜びがあります。CDブックレットの表紙は、穏やかにほほ笑む山下達郎さんの肖像画です。この肖像画、およびブックレット内の随所に見られる洒脱なイラストは、漫画「テルマエ・ロマエ」の作者ヤマザキマリさんによるものだそうです。持っていることがますます嬉しくなります。

　収録曲は以下の通りです。

　This is the album he released for the first time in 11 years since his previous one called ‘Ray of Hope’(2011). One of my best friends gave me two albums for my birthday this summer, and this album was one of them. Songs by Tatsuro Yamashita are not available on any music apps so it is a great pleasure to own his CD. The cover of the CD booklet features a portrait of him smiling softly. That portrait and some illustrations in the booklet are drawn by a cartoonist called Mari Yamazaki, who is the author of ‘Thermae Romae’, a famous manga in Japan. That makes it more delightful to obtain this CD.

　この15曲中、12曲は映画やドラマ、CMのテーマソングだったとのこと。自分はあまり耳にしていない曲ばかりだったので、新鮮な気持ちで楽しめました。1曲目、音が鳴った瞬間に、もう連れていかれます。言わずもがなですが、1曲もハズレなしです。この数週間、このアルバムばかり聴いています。1番好きな曲を上げろと言われれば、「うたのきしゃ」でしょうか。映画「未来のミライ」のエンディングテーマとのことですが、ソウルフルなサウンドとキャッチーなメロディーがたまりません。

　Twelve tracks out of these fifteen are written as theme songs for movies, dramas, and TV commercials. I didn’t know most of them so I enjoyed them as new songs. I was carried away the instant I heard the first few bars of the first track. It goes without saying that there is no dull song. I’ve been listening to only this album for a few weeks. If I had to choose a track as my favorite, I would say ‘Uta no Kisha’. This song was the ending theme song for a movie called ‘Mirai no Mirai’, and it is so soulful and full of catchy melodies.

　ちょっと聴き比べたくなって、久しぶりに、山下達郎さんのファーストソロアルバム「CIRCUS TOWN」（1976）を聴いてみました。声は確かに若いです。サウンドも軽快に響きます。でも、山下達郎さんらしさというものは、何にも変わっていません。この「CIRCUS TOWN」と「SOFTLY」の間には46年という開きがあります。それなのに、収録曲をいくつか置き換えても違和感なく聴けるのではないか、とさえ思ってしまいます。時代が変わっても変わらない、いわゆる普遍的な何かがそこにあるのでしょう。

　次回は、友人がくれたもう1枚のアルバムについてです。

　I felt like listening to his first solo album called ‘CIRCUS TOWN’ (1976) to compare with the new one, and I did. I found his voice so young. All the tracks sound lilting. However, I realized the characteristics of Tatsuro Yamashita have never changed. There is a gap, 46 years, between ‘CIRCUS TOWN’ and ‘SOFTLY’. Nevertheless, I think it may not strange even if some tracks were switched around between the two albums. I’m sure that you can see something that never fades in his albums.

 I will mention the other album that my friend gave me next time.

この季節に聴きたい曲：原田珠々華「サイダー」 Songs to listen to this time of year: ‘Soda pop’ by Suzuka Harada

　何でCMで使われていないんでしょう。タイトル通り、喉が渇くこの季節にぴったりなのに。申し分なくキャッチーなこの曲は、繰り返し聴きたくなる良曲です。

　I wonder why this song has never been used as an ad jingle. As the title suggests, this song is just right to listen to in this season. This song is so catchy that I feel like listening to it repeatedly.

　リリースされたのは2年前、2020年の8月です。元はアイドルグループのメンバーだった原田珠々華さんですが、こうした曲を聴くと実力のあるシンガーソングライターとわかります。これまでにも耳にしてプレイリストにいれた曲がいくつかありました。

　This song was released about two years ago, in August 2020. The singer called Suzuka Harada was a member of an idol band before, but I realize that she is a genuine singer-songwriter. I’ve added several of her songs to my playlist after just the first or second listen.

　それにしても「サイダー」というタイトルの曲はいったい何曲あるんでしょう。以前このブログでは、吉田凛音さんの同名曲を取り上げました。他には赤い公園、aikoさんなどが浮かびます。キャッチーさという点では、原田さんのこの曲は群を抜いているのは間違いありません。まだ聴かれていない方はぜひ。

　Come to think of it, I wonder how many songs there have been with the title ‘Soda pop’. I featured a song with the title by Rinne Yoshida in this blog before. I come up with some other songs like that of Akai Kouen, Aiko, and so on. I’m sure this song is the catchiest among them. I highly recommend you to listen to this if you haven’t yet.

　一度聴いただけで好きになる、そんな曲です。キャッチー度は10点満点中10点です。

　This is a kind of song that you come to love it immediately just after one listen. From the viewpoint of catchiness, I give it 10 out of 10.

　ホーンやストリングスをふんだんに盛り込んだアレンジ、耳について離れないサビのメロディー。好きにならない理由がありません。意味深な歌詞の真意はつかめません。「2000年から呼び寄せた夜」とはどんな意味でしょう。そのわからなささえ、むしろ魅力に思えます。こんなにエモい仕上がりに乗っかる、女声ボーカルの無感情な歌い方は大貫妙子さんを思い出させます。

　There're so many good points like arrangement making full use of the horns and the strings, the melody of the chorus that is so addictive. And so on. There’s no reason to hate this song. I cannot understand the meaning of the lyrics that is so meaningful. I don’t know what they mean by the words, “Go through the night summoned from 2000 years ago”. I even love that vagueness. The unemotional way of singing by the female vocalist on such a emotional song reminds me of that of the old singer called Taeko Onuki.   

　この曲を知ったのは半年ほど前ですが、もう5年も前の曲と知って驚きました。Special Favorite Musicというバンドは2014年に結成された模様。もともと９人組だったのが、現在では3人組で活動しているそうです。この「Royal Memories」のボーカル、ラビンユーさんもすでに脱退しているとのこと。シティポップが好きな人には強くお勧めしたい一曲です。

　I came to know this song only a half year ago, and I was surprised when I learn this song was released five years ago. The band called Special Favorite Music debuted in 2014. They originally had 9 members but now with only three. The vocalist of this song, Royal Memories, was a girl called lovinyuu, and she has also left this band. I strongly recommend this song to someone who loves so-called city pop music.
