Sounds stylish. So catchy. And somehow it makes me feel nostalgia. I’m sure someone who liked the kind of music they called Shibuyakei will be into this song. it is not strange that this song is from one of the Free Soul Compilation Albums, a music project in the 90’s. This song, which is written and sung by a singer-songwriter called Yui Nishio, is a song I feel like adding to my playlist because it surely gives me quite a lift.

いきなりサビからの始まりです。歌詞の出だし、「息を吸う ここで吸う 過ぎてく」という言葉の味わい深さはどうでしょう。気持ちよく吹き抜けるホーン。小気味よいベースとドラムの刻み。夜の匂いがします。真夜中の高速のおともにぴったりです。
This song starts with the chorus. The beginning of the lyrics which says ‘Iki wo suu Kokode suu Ikiteku’ is so impressive. The horn section blasts pleasantly. The bass and drums beat out its rhythm comfortably. Somehow I feel as if I smell the night’s air. This song goes well with driving along an expressway late at night.
意外なことに、この曲はテレビアニメの主題歌として書き下ろされたということです。ゆいにしおさんの楽曲を聴くのは、この曲が初めてでした。Wikiによると、音楽活動のルーツに山下達郎さん、ピチカート・ファイヴがあるとのこと。渋谷系のDNAがいい形でここに残っています。世代を超えて響く楽曲だと思います。まだ聴かれてない方はぜひ。
To my surprise, this song was written as the theme song for a TV animation program. This song is the first one for me to listen to hers. According to wiki, she was influenced by some musicians like Tatsuro Yamashita, Pizzicato Five, and so on. She surely inherited the essence of some musicians who were called Shibuyakei. I believe this is a song which sounds good beyond generations. I recommend you to listen to her songs if you haven’t yet.
