地元の人間にとって見慣れているはずの夜景が、ここから見ると見違えるように、新鮮な輝きを放っています。普段使いには高級すぎるこのフレンチレストランですが、身内のお祝いでディナーに出かけました。
Although the night view is familiar to local people in Nagasaki, somehow it looked brighter than usual, and I even felt something new to me when I look down upon it from there. This restaurant is so expensive that I’ve been there only a few times before, and this time I went there because there was something to celebrate with my family.
自分が頂いたのは、「“長崎牛”サーロインのステーキ」でした。まず、地元の山海の幸を生かした前菜にワクワクします。一つ一つの量の少なさが、かえって食欲を掻き立てます。食べ終わったところにスープと小ぶりのパンが来ました。オリーブオイルの小皿も用意してあり、焼きたてのパンをちぎって染み込ませると、美味しさがさらに引き立ちます。そうしているうちにいよいよ主役のステーキのお出ましです。お肉の上には、レモンの輪切りにバジル入りのバターがたっぷり載っています。一口目、容赦なく美味いです。それだけではすぐに飽きが来るサーロインですが、付け合わせの焼き野菜がいい仕事をしてくれます。デザートも美味しくて大満足でした。
What I had this time was ‘A sirloin steak of ”Nagasaki Beef”’. First, I was excited with the hors d’oeuvre which were made from various kinds of local ingredients. They were small in quantity so that my appetite grew even more. When I finished them, the soup and some buns were served. There was olive oil in a small plate and it made the fresh-baked buns all the more delicious when I dipped the pieces of buns in it. After that the sirloin steak, the main course, was finally served. It was garnished with a round slice of lemon which was topped with a lump of butter mixed with basil. I took one mouthful, and it was so delicious. It was a sirloin steak, which I tend to be soon tired of, but the fried vegetables went well with it so there was no problem. The dessert was also good and I was more than satisfied.
ふと窓辺に目を移すと、夜景の美しさにしばらく見とれました。以前は、いつも物足りなく感じていたこの地方の町ですが、今ではとても愛おしく思えています。このレストランが入っているのは稲佐山の中腹にある、ホテル＆リゾート施設「ガーデンテラス長崎」です。このフレンチレストランのほかに、創作料理や鮨、鉄板焼きのお店も入っています。コロナ騒ぎが収まって、長崎に来られた際にはぜひ立ち寄ってほしい場所です。
When I happened to look out the window, I ended up being fascinated by the beautiful night view. I was not satisfied with this small town before, but for some reason I love Nagasaki very much now. This restaurant is located in the resort hotel called ‘Garden Terrace Nagasaki’, which is halfway up Mt. Inasa. Besides this restaurant, this hotel has several kinds of restaurants one serves original cuisine, and another does sushi, and the other does grilled meat. When this corona pandemic is over, I hope you come and give this place a try.
