美味しい鰻料理も、長崎の名物のひとつです。今回、ご紹介するのは大村湾の東岸に位置する東彼杵町の老舗、栄喜屋さん。昭和２年の創業から百年近く地元で愛され続けているお店です。
Eel dishes are one of the specialties in Nagasaki. The restaurant I'll mention here is a very old one called Eikiya, which is located in Higashisonogi town that is on the east shore of Omura bay. This restaurant has been loved by local people for almost a hundred years since 1925.
注文したのは鰻丼、3200円。鰻の一切れを箸で切って、タレの染みたご飯と一緒に頬張ります。旨いです。汁物は肝吸いではなく、赤だしでしたが、これがまた美味しくて唸ります。嬉しいのは、小鉢が幾つか付いてくること。他ではあまり見たことがありません。
I ordered an unadon, which is an eel dish served on a rice bowl, and the price was 3,200 yen.I cut off a fillet of eel with chopsticks to cram it into my mouth with some rice soaked in the sauce. It's so tasty. The soup was not kimosui, which is a kind of clear soup using the stomach of eels as an ingredient, but akadashi, a kind of miso soup that is often served with sushi, and it was so delicious as well. What made me pleased more was several side dishes in small bowls came along. I had never seen like that before.
栄喜屋さんは、レトロな木造駅舎で知られる千綿駅のすぐ近くにあります。大村湾に面したこの小さな駅は、利用客以外に、その佇まいと美しい眺望を目当てに、多くの人が集まる場所です。この東彼杵町や川棚町といった大村湾の東岸には、県外の方にはまだあまり知られていない、面白い場所がたくさんあります。長崎市や佐世保市に来られた際には、ぜひ足を延ばしてみてください。
Eikiya is close to a station called Chiwata eki which is well-known for its old style wooden building. This small station building, which is located at the seashore, attracts a lot of people aside from the passengers because of its beauty and the great ocean view from the platform. The towns on the east shore of Omura bay such as Higashisonogi, Kawatana aed so on, has a lot of good places to visit that aren't well-known by tourists from other prefectures. I highly recommend you visit those places when you come to Nagasaki or Sasebo city.
