日本語で検索してもヒットしません。英語で検索すると見つかります。その名にたがわぬ、スリルとスピード感にあふれたトランプ遊びです。
先日、知人の紹介でアメリカ人の学生数名に日本語を教える機会がありました。雑談する時間も多くあり、今どきのアメリカの若者たちの日常について、興味深い話をたくさんきくことができました。映画の話になったときに、自分が英語を勉強するきっかけが007シリーズだったことを話すと、ラスベガスから来たティムが目を輝かせてバッグからトランプを取り出しました。面白いトランプ遊びを教えてくれるというのです。その名も「ジェームズ・ボンド」という遊びでした。

The other day, a friend of mine gave me a chance to teach Japanese language to some American students. We had plenty of time to chat and I could hear a lot of interesting stories from them about the daily lives of American young people these days. I told them about my fondness for 007 movies and how they encouraged me to study English, when Tim, who is from Las Vegas, took a set of cards out of his bag with his eyes sparkling. He said that there was a card game that he wanted to tell me about. It was a card game called ‘James Bond’.

“James Bond (also Lemon, Atlantis or Chanhassen) is a matching card game where players compete to see who can assemble piles of four-of-a-kind the fastest. Pagat.com describes it as a widespread children's game which "seems to be of fairly recent origin", and popular in California.”

面白いです。日本で行われるスピードという遊びが好きな人はきっとノレます。ただ、素早い判断力だけでなく、記憶力も必要です。欲しいカードが自分の手元の違う組に入っている場合があるからです。伏せて置くので、どの組にそれがあるか、覚えておかなくてはなりません。また、そのカードは一旦捨ててからまた拾うことになります。勝負の決着はわずかな時間差になることが多く、ほぼ同時に「ジェームズ・ボンド！」と叫んでしまうこともあります。
This game is so enjoyable. You will like it, especially if you like a game called speed, which is widely played in Japan. However, it requires not only quick judgement but also a good memory. You sometimes see some cards that you need are in other piles of your own. You have to put the piles facedown so you need to remember which pile has the card you want. Plus, you have to discard it first and then you can take the new one. It is sometimes settled by a split second, players would call “James Bond!” at almost the same time.
007シリーズの原作には、ジェームズ・ボンドが様々なカジノでカードの勝負をする場面が描かれています。ティムの故郷、ラスベガスは、「ダイヤモンドは永遠に」の舞台でした。それにしても、ラスベガス出身だからというわけではないでしょうが、ティムはカードさばきも上手く、ブルシット、プレジデントといった他の遊び方も教えてくれました。いずれも日本ではやったことのない遊び方です。こちらからも何か教えたかったけれど、ババ抜きぐらいしか思い浮かばずやめました。
In the original novels of 007, there are a lot of scenes in casinos where James Bond plays cards. Las Vegas was the setting of ‘Diamonds Are Forever’. By the way, I wonder whether the same goes for all the people from Las Vegas, but Tim was quite good at handling cards, and he also taught me some other card games like bullshit, president and so on. I had never seen them played in Japan so far. I wanted to teach him some Japanese card games, but I couldn’t come up with anything except for Babanuki (a game almost the same as Old Maid), so I didn’t.
