このゲームでは、島に見立てたボードの上に、道を作り、開拓し、都市を作っていきます。開拓地は１点、都市は２点と点数化されていて、10点先取したプレイヤーが勝利となります。ボードは、木、レンガ、鉱石、小麦、羊を表す六角形のカードをランダムに敷き詰めたもので、その上に小さくて丸い点数のカードを配置します。
In this game, you have to make roads, develop the land, and build cities on the board which is supposed to be an iland. You’ll get one point with a developed land, two points with a city, and you'll win when you get 10 points first. The board consists of hexagonal cards each of which represents wood, bricks, iron ore, wheat, or sheep, plus there's one thing that is put on each of them and it is a small, round shaped number card which shows the value of the hexagonal card.
このゲームは飽きさせません。それは、盤面を構成するカードの組み合わせがほぼ無限にあり、毎回、異なるゲーム展開になるからです。もう一つは、運よりもプレイヤーの判断と選択が、勝敗を左右するということでしょうか。
I believe you won’t get tired of this game. That's because there are innumerable ways of putting together the hexagonal cards in making the board, and that means every game goes in different ways. What's more is that it is the player's decision and choice that decides the outcome of the game rather than lucks.
前回述べたように、ゴールデンウイーク中、１０回以上プレーして、一度も勝てませんでした。それでも悔しくないのは、勝者はいても、敗者の順位はつかないからかもしれません。余計な感情や思惑にとらわれず、ただ、次はもっと上手くやるぞ、と純粋に次のゲームが楽しみになります。
As I mentioned last time, we played this board game more than ten times during the golden week and I couldn't win at all. Even so I didn't have any bitter feelings and the possible reason for it is that there's no ranking among the losers. I was simply looking forward to the next game thinking that I would play better this time without any grudge or distracting thoughts.
基本セットでは２人から４人で遊べます。２人で遊ぶときは特別ルールがあるようです。拡張セットを買うことでプレイヤーは６人まで増やせます。
すごろく系のボードゲームに飽きてる方にはぜひ試してほしいゲームです。
The basic version of this board game is for two players to four. There seem to be special rules when it is played by two players. They sell additional versions that enable it to be played by five to six.
I highly recommend this board game to someone who is tired of The Game of Life or something like that.
