新曲ＭＶレビュー ずっと真夜中でいいのに。「眩しいＤＮＡだけ」: A review of a new MV “Mabushii DNA Dake” by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni

　これまでに配信された６曲とは，また一味違う新しさを感じさせてくれます。

　１月１１日に初ライブを開催した，ずっと真夜中でいいのに。が新曲「眩しいＤＮＡだけ」のＭＶを２月４日に公開しました。２月５日の夜に自分が初めて見たときには視聴回数はもう４０万回を超えていました。(これを書いている２月８日午前６時現在で９９万回！) 

　It is something new compared to the six songs which have already been distributed so far.

　Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni who held their first live concert on January 11^th released their new MV “Mabushii DNA Dake” on February 4^th. When I watched the MV the next night, on February 5^th, it had already reached over four hundred thousand views.(as of now, 6:00 a.m. Feb. 8, it reached over 990,000!)

　ラップ調で始まる「眩しいＤＮＡだけ」ですが，新しい世界を感じさせながらも，すでに確立されているずとまよらしさを堪能できる仕上がりで，ファンの期待を裏切りません。映像は「ヒューマノイド」のときと同じsakiyamaさんです。音源配信は２月２７日となっています。

　The first half of this song sounds like rap music. It surely sounds like something new to me but, at the same time, I can somehow enjoy their characteristic which they have already established. That’s why I’m sure this song won’t betray their fans’ expectation. The animation of the MV was made by sakiyama, the same animator who made “Humanoid”. You can buy this song online from February 27^th.   

　初ライブでは，18曲演奏して、そのうち9曲は未音源の新曲だったとのこと。４月には東名阪ツアーが行われますが，参加できる人が本当に羨ましいです。

　They played eighteen songs in total at their first concert, and nine songs were new ones which haven’t released yet.  They will go on a concert tour around Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo in April. I really envy the people who can go to the concerts.

巨大竜巻パニック映画「イントゥ・ザ・ストーム」： A meteorological disaster film which is quite exciting “Into the Storm”

　理屈抜きで楽しめるパニック映画です。現在，アマゾン・プライムで無料視聴できる作品，「イントゥ・ザ・ストーム」（2014）を鑑賞しました。

　This is just an entertainment, disaster film. I watched a movie called “Into the Storm” on Amazon Prime for free.

　一口にパニック映画と言っても，動物，エイリアン，地震，火災など様々な題材のものがあります。この映画は，巨大竜巻を扱ったパニック映画です。竜巻の映画というと１９９６年の「ツイスター」がすぐに浮かびます。そちらもわりと好きでしたが，個人的には今回の「イントゥ・ザ・ストーム」の方がさらに面白がれました。

　Even though it is all called disaster films, actually there are many sorts of themes which they are on such as animals, aliens, earthquakes, fires, and so on. This movie is a disaster film about huge tornados. When it comes to a movie about tornados, the one which comes into my mind first is “Twister”, released in 1996. That movie is one of my favorites, but this “Into the Storm” is somehow even better than it for me.

　その日，オクラホマ州の田舎町シルバートンの高校は卒業式を迎えていました。教頭のゲイリー（リチャード・アーミティッジ）は２人の息子ドニー（マックス・ディーコン）とトレイ（ネイサン・クレス）に，タイムカプセル用に卒業生のメッセージを撮影するよう命じます。しかし，兄のドニーは，弟のトレイに撮影を任せて，思いを寄せる女の子の課題を手伝うため，町の廃工場へと行くのでした。その頃，竜巻ハンターのピートは，「タイタス」と名付けられた装甲車にチームを乗せて，シルバートンへ向かっていました。気象情報を分析した結果，この町に竜巻が発生することを予想していたのでした。予想通り発生した竜巻は，高校を，そしてドニーのいる廃工場を直撃するのですが，それは，次々に発生する竜巻の始まりに過ぎなかったのです……。

　On that day, they are holding a graduation ceremony in the high school in the country town of Silverton, Oklahoma. The vice-principal, Gary Fuller (Richard Armitage) asks his two sons, Trey (Nathan Kress) and Donnie (Max Deacon), to record messages from the seniors for a time capsule. However, Donnie leaves the job to Trey because he goes to an abandoned factory to help a girl, who he has a crush on, with her project. In the meantime, Pete (Matt Walsh) who is a storm chaser are heading for Silverton on an armored vehicle nicknamed “Titus” with his team. Because he learned that a tornado would touch down in that town through analyzing the weather information. The tornado which actually touches down in the city as he thought hits the high-school and then the abandoned factory where Donnie is in, but it is just a first one of the series of tornados which will hit the town one after another.

　竜巻ハンターの一人である気象学者アリソンを演じるのは，ＴＶドラマ「プリズン・ブレイク」で主人公の恋人役だったサラ・ウェイン・キャリーズです。また，教頭の息子トレイを演じるネイサン・クレスは，ＴＶドラマ「アイ・カーリー」で主人公の友達フレディ役でした。どちらも好きな俳優さんなのでそれだけでも喜んだのですが，それを抜きにしても，本当にエキサイティングな映画でした。話の本筋とは別に，ちょくちょく登場するYouTuber気取りのおバカな２人組がやたらと可笑しくて，いかにもアメリカ的な笑いを振りまいていました。

　The actress who played Allison Stone, Pete’s meteorologist, was Sarah Wayne Callies. She appeared in the drama “Prison Break” as a lover of the main character. Trey, one of the sons of the vice-principle, was played by Nathan Kress who appeared on the drama “ICarly” as Freddie Benson, a friend of Carly. They are both my favorite actors so I was pleased to see them on the film, but I’m sure this movie would have been exciting one even without them. Apart from the plot, I found two daredevils, who appeared in some part of this movie as would-be YouTubers, really exhilarating. What they are like is, in my opinion, an embodiment of typical American jokes.

毎週金曜の楽しみ 「全力！脱力タイムズ」: A diversion every Friday night “Zenryoku! Datsuryoku Times”

　４０分ずっとクスクスして時々爆笑してしまいます。金曜，夜１１時，フジテレビの「全力！脱力タイムズ」が好きな方は多いと思います。毎回，全力解説員と呼ばれる専門家たちをそろえ，芸人一人と人気タレント一人をゲストコメンテーターとして迎えて，深刻ぶったテーマのもと，徹底してふざけきった討論を展開しています。

　It’s a forty-minute TV program and I giggle all the time and burst out laughing sometimes. I’m sure many people love the TV program called “Zenryoku! Datsuryoku Times” broadcast by Fuji TV at 11p.m. every Friday night. It features experts called “Zenryoku Commentator” and invites two guest commentators, the one is a comedian and the other is a star, to discuss thoroughly playfully on serious-looking themes.

　報道番組を装ったこの番組は，全く新しい形のお笑い番組です。司会者，アシスタント，全力解説員，スタッフまで含めて全員が全力でボケまくって，ゲストの芸人が一人でツッコミまくるという形自体が大きな笑いを誘います。番組の台本はしっかりとあるようですが，ゲストの芸人にだけはウソの台本が渡されているようです。

当然，芸人の実力によって笑いの量は変わってきます。今まで興味のなかった芸人の実力の高さを思い知ってファンになることもあります。

  This TV program takes the form of a news commentary program, but it is actually a totally new type of comedy program. All of the people, the anchor, the assistant, the commentators, and even the staff try to play funny guys, and only the guest comedian try to play the straight man so I feel this form itself makes audience laugh so much. There should be a good script, I guess, but it seems that the guest comedians are given the false script. It depends on the comedian’s skills how much the program could be funny. Sometimes I become a fan of a comedian who I haven’t been interested in so far through coming to know how funny the comedian is.

　全力解説員に野村萬斎さんを迎えた２月１日の放送は，この番組の笑いの一つの完成形を示すものでした。もう４０分笑いっぱなしでした。２０２０年の東京オリンピックで開閉会式を演出する総合統括に任命されている野村萬斎さんに対し，出演を熱望しているという体（てい）で解説員も司会の有田さんも必死にアピールして媚を売りまくります。それに批判的だったゲストのEXILE松本さんまで，最後は街角インタビューを装ったアピールビデオで売り込むという大ボケをかまします。結局，萬斎さんの関心を一番惹いたのは，最後に脈絡もなく出てきたコウメ太夫だったという完全に脱力したオチが待っていました。ゲストコメンテーターの芸人にはアルコ＆ピースの平子祐希さんを迎えていましたが，すべてのボケに見事なツッコミをされていました。来週も楽しみです。

　This time, on February 1^st, it featured Nomura Mansai, who is a Noh actor, as a commentator and I was sure that it showed a complete version of the program as a comedy one. I kept laughing fully for forty-minute. Every one of them, not only commentators but also the anchor Arita, tries to appeal desperately, obsequiously to Nomura, who was assigned to a general director of the both opening and closing ceremony for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, showing their intention to appear on the ceremonies. Eventually the guest star Matsumoto, from Exile, also appealed with a video, in which he conducted a man-on-the-street interview, even though he had been critical to the others’ fawning. The most hilarious part for me was the person who Nomura was finally interested in most was Koume Dayu, who appeared at the last minute. The comedian who was invited as a guest commentator was Hirako Yuki, one guy of the pair of comedian called Aruko & Peace and he did a really good job. I’m looking forward to next week, too.

仏蘭西屋の美味しいカクテル「ホット・ウイスキー」：Good cocktails in my favorite bar “Hot Whisky”

　寒い日は，こんな温かさが恋しくなります。この季節，カウンターについてまず頼みたい１杯目はホット・ウイスキーです。ただのお湯割りではなく，砂糖とレモンが入っていて，それにシナモンのスティックとクローブで香りづけしています。

　On a cold day, I miss such a warmth. It is hot whiskey that I want to order as the first drink just after sitting at the counter in this season. The hot whisky served there is not just diluted with hot water, but it is the one with sugar and sliced lemon, plus it is flavored with a cinnamon stick and some cloves.

　最近，マスターがおすすめしてくれたＣＤの一つが「ヘレン・メリル・ウィズ・クリフォード・ブラウン」でした。１９５４年に録音されたこのアルバムは，ジャズ好きには名盤として知れわたっているようです。ジャズの楽しみ方が分かってない自分でも，ヘレン・メリルのハスキーな歌声とクリフォード・ブラウンのトランペットとの掛け合いに心を奪われます。「ブラウニー」の愛称で親しまれたクリフォード・ブラウンはこのアルバムの２年後，交通事故のために２５歳の若さで亡くなったそうです。

　One of the CDs the bartender recommended me recently was “Helen Merrill with Clifford Brown”. This album which is recorded in 1954 is widely known as a classic jazz album for jazz devotees. Actually, I don’t know how to enjoy jazz, even so I’m fascinated by the music which is partly sung by Helen Merrill and partly played by Clifford Brown, the trumpeter. Clifford Brown whose nickname was “Brownie” died at the age of 25 in a car accident only two years after this album was recorded.

予習が必要な映画 「ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ」：“The Post” A movie which requires some knowledge beforehand

　昨年，大きく話題になった映画，「ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ」がアマゾン・プライムで無料視聴できるようになっているので観てみました。事前の印象としては，退屈なのではないか，とあまり期待はしていませんでした。スピルバーグ監督で，主演はメリル・ストリープ，それにトム・ハンクスまで出ているという豪華さはさておいて，政治的問題を扱った社会派ドラマという触れ込みに，面白さよりも深刻さが勝っているのではないかと勝手に不安がっていたのです。

　I saw a movie called “The Post” which was talked about a lot among people last year, and it was free of charge on Amazon Prime. Actually, I had thought that it might be a boring one before I saw it. Apart from the gorgeousness that it was directed by Steven Spielberg and the starred Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, I was afraid that it would be serious rather than exciting to me because I had heard beforehand it was a historical political thriller drama.

　観終わっての感想は，自分がアメリカ人で，ある程度の知識人なら大変面白がれただろう，というものでした。日本人で，さほどアメリカの歴史についての知識をもっていない自分にとっては，手放しで面白がるには予習が足りていませんでした。この映画を楽しむためには，７０年代初頭におけるアメリカ人のベトナム戦争観，ニクソン大統領政権下の政治状況，ニューヨーク・タイムズ，そしてワシントン・ポストという新聞社の報道姿勢や業界内での格付けなどを知っておいた方がよいと思います。

　My impression after watching it was that I might have enjoyed it a lot more if I were an American and also knew more about American history. Actually I am a Japanese and I don’t know the history of the U.S.A. so much, so I should have done preparation in order to enjoy this movie heartily. If you really want to enjoy it, you should know how Americans felt about the Vietnam War in the early seventies, what the political situation under President Nixon was like, and the principles or the ratings of some newspaper companies like The New York Times, The Washington Post and so on.  

　アメリカの敗北とはっきり言えるベトナム戦争は，その始まりに明確な定義はできないようです。気が付くと，見知らぬ遠い異国で，いたずらに若者たちの命が消耗されていくだけの不毛な戦いが，際限もなく続いていたのだと思います。その上，共産主義の拡大を食い止めるというあいまいな目標だけでは，正義は感じづらかったにちがいありません。戦争を遂行する妥当性が，大きく問われ始めた中で明かされた「ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ」という文書は，政府自身がその妥当性を否定していることを綴ったものでした。当然，その公開を阻止しようとニクソン政権は躍起になるのですが，その圧力をはねのけて，ワシントン・ポストは報道に踏み切ります。

　この映画のエンディングでは，アメリカの政治史上，最もスキャンダラスなウォーターゲート事件につながるエピソードが少しだけ描かれてエンド・ロールに入ります。そのことも観終わってから調べました。面白がるタイミングを逃して悶々としています。

　It is obvious that the U.S.A. was defeated in the Vietnam War, and it seems difficult to define even the beginning of the war. They had continued a fruitless struggle in which the precious lives of many young people were consumed meaninglessly in an unknown country overseas before they were aware of it. Besides, the ambiguous goal of preventing communism from expanding must not have been enough for them to feel a sense of justice about the war. As the appropriateness of continuing the war became a big problem, the Pentagon Papers was uncovered and it revealed the fact that the government itself had already denied the appropriateness of the war. The Nixon government desperately tried, of course, to stop the media from publishing the papers, however, despite the pressure, The Washington Post took the plunge into publishing it.

　At the end of this movie, a tiny episode, which led to the most scandalous event in American history called the Watergate affair, was depicted before the credit roll. Actually, I didn’t know this episode so I checked it out after watching the movie. Somehow I was frustrated because I couldn’t enjoy many things just at the right time. 

ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ／最高機密文書 (字幕版)

いかにも長崎なもの 「向日葵亭」のトルコライス：Something unique in Nagasaki restaurant “Himawari Tei”’s Turkey Rice

　長崎名物の一つとしてテレビ番組でも時折紹介されるトルコライスですが，その発祥は定かでありません。市内中心部では，複数の老舗レストランが「元祖」を名乗っていますが，それぞれに個性があり，違う美味しさが味わえます。

　比較的新しい郊外の店舗の中にも，それらの老舗にひけをとらぬ店も多くあります。その中でも，長崎市の北部に位置する「向日葵亭」のトルコライスは特に人気があります。

　Turkey Rice is sometimes featured on TV as a specialty of Nagasaki, but its origin is obscure. There are some old restaurants that claim to be the originator of Turkey Rice in the downtown area of the city, and each of them has its own originality so you can enjoy various tastes through them.   

　There are many new restaurants which also serve Turkey Rice in the suburbs of the city, and some of them are as good as the old ones. A restaurant called “Himawari Tei” which is located in the northern area of Nagasaki city is particularly popular.

　現在，メニューには様々なバリエーションのトルコライスが載せてあり，どれにしようか迷いますが，創業当時は向日葵風トルコライスのみだったようです。現在のそれは，ピラフにカレーソース，ヒレカツ，そしてミートソースまたはトマトソースのスパゲティという組み合わせになっています。その一品一品が美味しい上に，一つの皿の上で混ざり合う中で相乗効果による美味しさが生まれてきます。

　Now you can see various types of Turkey Rice on their menu so it is not easy to choose, but there used to be only one called Himawari Style Turkey Rice when they started the restaurant. The current one consists of pilaf, curry sauce, cutlets of pork fillet, and spaghetti meat sauce or tomato sauce. Each one of them that composes the dish is essentially delicious and, on top of that, they could be even better by the combined effect when they are mixed together on the dish.

　中心部から離れているため，アクセスのいい場所ではないのですが，向日葵亭からさらに北に向かう道はサンセット・ロードと呼ばれ，素晴らしい夕日を楽しめます。ドライブやツーリングの途中で立ち寄るお店としては，絶好のロケーションです。

　The restaurant is a little bit away from the center of the city so its location is not so convenient to visit, but the road which leads north from the restaurant is called Sunset Road where you can enjoy the fantastic sunset. I recommend you to stop by this restaurant when you are out for taking a drive or touring by motorcycle.

大好きだったあの世界は今？ 岩館真理子の世界⑩「子供はなんでも知っている」：Where is the world I loved before?

　「週刊マーガレット」それから「ヤングユー」に作品を連載していた岩館真理子さんですが，この「子供はなんでも知っている」は同じ集英社の「ぶ～け」で発表されたものです。コミックスの第一巻が出されたのは1990年で，「うちのママが言うことには」や「冷蔵庫にパイナップル・パイ」と同時期であることを考えると，この頃の岩館さんがどれだけ忙しかったのか，ちょっと想像がしづらいほどです。

　Iwadate Mariko originally serialized her works in “Weekly Margaret” first, then in “Young You”, but she published this work “Kodomo wa Nandemo Shitte Iru” in “Bouquet” from Shueisha, the same publishing company. The first volume of this comics was published in 1990, and it was a period of her life when she also published “Uchi no Mama ga Iukotoniwa” and “Reizoko ni Pineapple Pie”, so it was quite difficult to imagine how she was busy at that time. 

　親同士の結婚によって兄妹になった沙羅ととうたは，同じ１６歳，同じ高校の同級生です。何かと衝突する２人を，仲良くさせようと気を揉む沙羅の母ととうたの父でしたが，実は彼らが知らないだけで，２人は以前から交際しており，１年前にすでに破局していたのでした。一つ屋根の下で暮らす中で，相手の胸中を探り合い，互いにまだ好きであることを確かめ合う２人は，親の都合で兄妹になってしまったことに悶々とした日々を過ごすのですが……。

　Sara and Tota, who become a sister and a brother in law due to their parent’s marriage, are both sixteen and also classmates in the same high school.  Sara’s mom and Tota’s dad try to make them hit it off well with each other but actually, Sara and Tota had gone out with each other until they broke up a year ago and their parents just didn’t know the fact. Living in the same house, they guess how the other is feeling and know that they are still in love with each other so they end up spending their days frustrated under the situation they were placed in by their parents.

　微妙な状況に置かれた若いカップルが抱く，周囲の大人たちへの不満，そして，将来への不安や相手への不信といった，揺れ動く心理がよく描けた作品です。わがままな沙羅とそれを持て余し気味のとうた，そして２人に振り回される母と父という構図自体に，岩館作品らしい可笑しみが表れています。

　１コマ１コマで，登場人物の表情や台詞が愛おしく思える岩館真理子の世界を，新作で味わいたいです。

　This is a work that depicts well the wavering mentality of a young couple in a subtle situation like how they have complaints to the adults around them and the feeling of anxiety to their future or the distrust to each other. I can see the characteristic humor which is an essential part of Iwadate’s works in some situations, for example, the conflicts between Sara who is quite selfish and Tota who can’t deal with her, and the way how their parents are disturbed by Sara and Tota.

　I really want to enjoy the Iwadate’s world, which makes me feel affection for the character’s expressions or lines in each frame, in her new work.
