 　何かしらポップでさわやかな，そして切ない気持ちになるミステリーです。タイトルから受けた，冷たくて，シリアスな印象は見事に覆されました。横浜は馬車道を舞台とするこのお話は，設定や登場人物がとっても魅力的です。

　It’s a mystery somewhat pop, refreshing and also something makes you feel wistful pang. My first impression that it would feel cold and serious was perfectly shattered. This story which is set in Bashamichi in Yokohama city is blessed with attractive settings and characters.

　本格的なコーヒーを味わえる喫茶店「ペガサス」のマスター毅志（たけし）は，空いていた２階の事務所に借り手が付くことになり安心していました。不動産屋の仲介で，顔合わせに喫茶店へとやってきたのは，２人の男でした。一人は皆藤，もう一人は山南と名乗るこの２人の職業は私立探偵だったのです。探偵事務所兼，住居として２階に居ついてからというもの，毎朝，下りてきては美味そうにコーヒーを飲む彼らの気さくさに好感を抱いた毅志は，やがて探偵の仕事を手伝うようになるのでした。そんなある日，皆藤と山南がいつになく深刻な面持ちで毅志に一つの仕事への協力を求めてきます。それは，ただの調査などではなく，非合法すれすれのかたき討ちのようなものでした。違和感と，多少の疑念を覚えながらも，毅志は復讐に加担してしまうのですが……。

　Takeshi who is the owner of a café called Pegasus was relieved to hear that there will be new tenants for the upstairs room of his building. Two guys come to see him at his café through the intermediation of a real estate agent. They introduced themselves as Kaitoh and Yamanami, private detectives. They often come down to the café to savor Takeshi’s coffee since they began to use the upstairs room as the office and also their home, Takeshi comes to like them due to their friendliness and he begins to help their jobs. One day, Kaitoh and Yamanami asks Takeshi, in unusual serious mood, to lend a hand with a job. The job is not just an investigation but something like a retaliation which is almost illegal. Although having an uncomfortable feeling and a little bit doubt, he ends up getting involved in the vengeance.     

　思いがけない展開に，夢中になって一晩で読み通しました。話としては完結しているのですが，さらに続きを読みたい気になる読後感でした。無知な自分は，貫井徳郎さんを知りませんでした。９３年にデビューした著者は，これまでに多数の著書があるようです。それらを読むのがとても楽しみです。

　I was so absorbed in reading this book that I finished it just overnight due to the plot which is really unpredictable. I felt like reading the sequel, not existing though, to the story when I finished. I was so ignorant that I didn’t know Nukui Tokuro, the author, at all. He debuted in 1993, so he has written many books so far. Now I’m very looking forward to reading them.

何でこんなに好きなのか 「ワカコ酒」：I don’t know why I love this TV drama so much

　「ワカコ酒」のシーズン４が始まっています。このドラマは「孤独のグルメ」の女性版という位置付けでしょうか。自分としてはどちらにも甲乙付け難い良さを感じています。

　The season 4 of “Wakako Zake” has started . This TV drama could be taken as the female version of “Kodoku no Gourmet”. Either is so good that I can’t decide which drama is better.

『ワカコ酒』 web初出し映像｜BSジャパン

　武田梨奈さん演じる村崎ワカコは，毎晩，ひとり酒を楽しむ２６才のＯＬです。「逢楽(あらく)」という行きつけのお店はありますが，気になったお店にとび込んでは，美味しいお酒と料理に舌鼓を打つのでした。武田梨奈さんの食べっぷりは「孤独のグルメ」の五郎さん（松重豊）に一切ひけをとりません。また，「孤独のグルメ」と同様にＢＧＭが素晴らしく，お酒がすすむにつれて，音楽に後押しされながら視聴者の気分は高揚していきます。夢中になるあまり，お約束の「プシュー」を思わず一緒に言ってしまいそうになるほどです。

　Murasaki Wakako played by Takeda Rina is twenty-six years old, and she is a female office worker who enjoys drinking alone every night. There is a tavern named “Araku” which is her favorite one, but she is brave enough to enter any drinking place if she is interested in to savor tasty drinks and dishes. Her way of eating is as attractive as Goro’s who is the main character of “Kodoku no Gourmet”. Plus, the BGM is also as good as “Kodoku no Gourmet”, the more she drinks, the more the audience get carried away by the music. I tend to be so absorbed in watching at her drinking that I almost breathe out with the sound “pshhhh!”, the specialty of this drama, at the same time when she does so.  

星たちのモーメント／スローモーション（初回限定盤）（DVD付）

  　このドラマでもう一つ気に入っているのは，エンディング・テーマ「星たちのモーメント」です。上野優華さんが歌うこの曲は，シーズン１から変わっていません。ドラマのエンディングでこの曲がかかると，それまでただ飲み食いしていただけなのに，なぜか切なくなってしまいます。

　アマゾン・プライムでは，全話無料視聴できる「孤独のグルメ」と違い，こちらは有料でも扱われていません。しかも，ＢＳのみでの放送で，地上波しか視聴できない環境の自分は悶々としています。シーズン３まではビデオレンタルできるので，このシーズン４についてもＤＶＤ化を楽しみにしています。

　There is another thing that I love about this drama, and that is the ending theme titled “Hoshitachi no Moment”. This song which is sung by Ueno Yuuka has been the ending theme of this drama since the season 1. Whenever I hear this ending theme I somehow feel a wistful pang even though I've just watched the main character drinking and eating.

　“Kodoku no Gourmet” is available on Amazon Prime for free, but this drama is not, not available even for a charge. On top of that, this drama is broadcast on only BS, so I feel frustrated because I can only use terrestrial channel. You can rent the DVD of this drama from the season 1 to 3, and now I’m very looking forward to the DVD of Season 4 to be released.

いかにも長崎なもの レストラン「カレーの夕月」のカレー：Something unique in Nagasaki

　カレーと言えば何色でしょう。通常は黄色に近い色を思い浮かべるのではないでしょうか。長崎のレストラン「夕月」では，出てきたカレーの色にひとまず打ちのめされます。広めの丸皿のふちまで満たされたサラサラ系のカレーは，かなり赤寄りのオレンジです。相応の辛さを覚悟しつつスプーンで運んだその一口目で，辛みとは程遠いまろやかさに拍子抜けしますが，今度はその独特の味わいに夢中でスプーンを動かすことになります。

　What color do you think curry is generally. I guess the color which comes into people’s mind first is perhaps a yellowish one. In "Yuuzuki", a restaurant in Nagasaki, you’d be amazed by the color of the curry that is served there. The curry, which has a smooth texture, served on a somewhat large dish filled to the brim is quite reddish orange. You may expect it to be quite spicy on sight, then you try it and realize it is unexpectedly mild far from spicy, and perhaps end up being absorbed in eating it due to the distinctive taste.

　何度か店舗の移転はあったものの，昭和の初めから営業している老舗「夕月」のカレーは，長崎のソウルフードの一つと言ってよい存在です。一般的な日本のカレーとも，本格的なインドカレーとも異なるその独特な味わいと，具材がとけ切ったスープに近いその口当たりは，長崎の人間でも好みの分かれるところですが，ハマる人にとっては中毒性を感じるほどのものです。家庭では決して再現できない味のこの食べ物は，あくまで「夕月のカレー」であり，普通にカレーと呼ぶべきではないのかもしれません。このお店でもう一つ特徴的なのが，各テーブルにおいてあるラッキョウです。全くクセがないのにクセになる不思議な味わいとカリッとした歯ごたえが，カレーのお供として最高の仕事をしてきます。

　レトルトパックで販売もされているので，ネットで購入できますが，長崎に来たらぜひ，そのラッキョウと一緒に試してほしい一品です。

　I can call the curry of “Yuuzuki” a soul food for some Nagasaki people because the restaurant is a long-established one which has lasted since the beginning of the Showa era despite changing its location several times. Their curry is somewhat different from both general Japanese curry and genuine Indian curry, and it has a smooth texture like soup with no solid ingredients, so it is somewhat controversial, I mean some people love it and others don’t so much even in Nagasaki, but I’m sure it is almost addictive for some people. I know I shouldn’t call it curry, perhaps “curry of Yuuzuki” , because the taste of it is totally different from the general homemade ones. There is one more thing that is also something special about this restaurant; it is pickled rakkyo placed on each table. Their rakkyo has no particular flavor but somehow wonderfully becomes habit-forming, and it also has a crispy texture that really goes best with their curry.

　Their curry is sold in pouches so you can get it online, but I want you to enjoy it with their rakkyo here in Nagasaki.

異色すぎるコラボ 川谷絵音×コレサワ×加藤茶×ROLLY×ウエノコウジ 「あっちゅーまやねん 人生」：it’s an unexpected collaboration of musicians

　とびきりカオスな組み合わせです。サガミオリジナルという会社が，今年の新成人向けに企画したプロジェクトで，１つのバンドが結成されました。そのメンバー構成は，コレサワ（Ｖｏ），加藤茶（Ｄｒ），Ｒｏｌｌｙ（Ｇｔ），ウエノコウジ（Ｂａ）となっています。コレサワさんが好きな自分としては，それだけで興味津々ですが，このメンバーを一体どんな基準で選んだのか想像すらつきません。

　This is an enjoyable chaos of different types of musicians. A band was produced in a project for new adults of this year planned by a company called Sagami Original. This band is made up of four members, Koresawa(Vo), Kato Cha(Dr), ROLLY(Gt) and Ueno Koji(Ba). I’m a fan of Koresawa so the mere fact that she is the vocalist of the band makes me interested in it very much, but I can’t even imagine how the members were chosen.

サガミオリジナル20周年記念プロジェクト「あっちゅーまやねん人生」

　彼らが歌う，新成人へのメッセージソング「あっちゅーまやねん 人生」の作詞作曲はゲスの極み乙女の川谷絵音さんです。こんなに豪華でいかがわしいコラボがあったでしょうか。公開されたビデオは，顔出しＮＧのコレサワさんの顔部分に２０名もの有名人の顔をあてはめて思い切り遊んでいますが，これも楽しいのか気持ちワルいのかちょっと判断がつきかねます。

　たしかに言えるのは，いい曲だということです。いきなりのボーカルから盛り上がるこの曲は，キャッチーなメロディと疾走感にあふれていてあっという間に引き込まれます。加トちゃんのドラムは，ドリフ全盛期のギャグ並みにキレッキレで思わず笑顔になります。

　Their song titled “Attyu ma yanen jinsei”, which is for new adults, was both composed and written by Kawatani Enon who is the vocalist of Gesu no Kiwami Otome. I’ve never heard such a gorgeous but also fishy collaboration. In the music video, faces of celebrities, up to twenty of them, were playfully used in turn as the face of Koresawa who are supposed not to show her face, I can’t decide whether it is enjoyable or just gross.

　There is one thing I can say with some confidence; this song is really good. It starts with vocal part immediately, and is full of catchy melody and a feeling of velocity so listeners would be into it soon enough. I’m sure that you would smile when you see Katochan’s performance as a drummer is as good as his gags he tossed off in the best days of Drifters, which is the comedy group he belongs to.

今ハマっているアルバム ヤバイＴシャツ屋さん「Tank-top Festival in Japan」: Albums I’m into now

　どうしようもなく，楽しいアルバムです。昨年末１２月１９日にリリースされた，ヤバイＴシャツ屋さんの3rdアルバム「Tank-top Festival in Japan」，とっても気に入っています。収録されている１３曲中５曲は，シングルですでに聴いていましたが，アルバムの中での配置がよくできているせいか，全て新鮮に聞こえます。つんのめるように進行していく楽曲の勢い，また，たたみかけてくるコーラスや合いの手の気持ちよさに，意味もなく走り出したくなるほどです。

　This is somewhat really hilarious. Yabai T shirt Ya San’s 3^rd album “Tank-top Festival in Japan” which is released in December 19^th is one of my favorite albums now. I’ve already known five songs out of thirteen which are contained in this album through singles, but I can enjoy all the songs as if all of them are new ones probably due to the well-thought-out arrangement of the songs. The momentum of tunes that is almost pitching forward, or the rapid-fire chorus and interjections makes me feel so good and I somehow feel an urge to run around.

【全曲トレーラー】ヤバイTシャツ屋さん 3rd FULL ALBUM｢Tank-top Festival in JAPAN｣

　全曲とも，容赦なく歌詞がふざけていて，クスクス笑ってしまいます。バンド名にＴシャツとあるくせに，あいかわらずタンクトップについて歌い，ただでさえ可笑しい「どすえ」にボンバーをくっつけ，かかとにローラーのついたくつを社会問題的に歌い上げてみせます。極めつけは６曲目，「大人の事情」で，収録済みの音源がお蔵入りになった事情を素敵なバラードに仕上げています。面白いだけなら何回かで飽きるのでしょうが，全曲とも楽曲のクオリティが高くて，聴くほどに演奏に入り込んでいきます。

　今年は紅白に出てほしいですが，学生臭さをなぜか失ってほしくない稀有なバンドです。

　Words of every song are so playful that they make me giggles all the time. They have “T shirt” in band’s name but they sing about “tank top” as they’ve done, and they put “Bomber” to the word “dosue”, a Kyoto dialect which somehow sounds humorous, then they sing emotionally about a pair of shoes which has rollers under their heels as if it is a social problem. The one most hilarious for me is the sixth song titled “Otona no Jijyo”, a fantastic ballad with words which explain the reason why they had to give up a song to be contained in this album even though the song was already recorded. If their songs are merely comical, I’m sure I could get tired of them after listening just several times, but actually the quality of their songs is really high so I listen to them more, the more I get into them.

　This year, I hope they can appear on Kohaku Utagssen, but at the same time I hope they wouldn’t lose their student-like atmosphere, in this sense, they are a somewhat rare band.

数学者を扱った映画③「グッド・ウィル・ハンティング」: Movies about mathematicians③”Good Will Hunting”

　名作，と言いたい映画の一つです。数学者を扱った映画と言っても，この映画は全くのフィクションで，前回までにふれた２作とは全く毛色の違うものです。主人公は確かに数学の天才ですが，その才能をフルに発揮していくようなサクセス・ストーリーではありません。主人公の特性としての数学の才能は，この映画の中で描かれる大切な出会いのきっかけを作るための，重要な要素として設定されています。

　I want to call it a masterpiece. This movie is surely the one featuring a mathematician, but this is a perfectly fiction so totally different from those two movies I mentioned these last two times. The main character of this movie is certainly a genius in mathematics, but it is not a success story in which he achieves something showing his skills fully. His mathematical talent is just supposed to be characteristic of him and it is also an important element for an encounter which is a significant part in this movie.

　ある日，ＭＩＴの数学教授ジェラルド・ランボー（ステラン・スカルスガルド）は，廊下の黒板に数学の難問を出します。大学院生向けに出されたこの問題を易々と解いたのは，なぜか匿名の人物でした。この謎めいた人物を試そうと，教授はさらに難しい問題を出します。教授は，一人の若者が黒板に解答を書いているのを偶然に発見しますが，それはなんと清掃員のウィルなのでした。教授を振り切って逃げだしたウィルは，自分が起こした乱闘事件で裁判にかけられますが，教授の申し出たある要件を満たすことと引き換えに，実刑を免れます。その要件とは，教授の下で数学を学びながら，更生のためにセラピーを受けるということでした。しかし，セラピストなど馬鹿にして相手にもしないウィルに教授は困り果て，学生時代のルーム・メイトだった心理学者のショーン・マグワイア（ロビン・ウィリアムス）にウィルのセラピーを依頼するのですが……。

　Will Hunting is a young guy, twenty, who works as a janitor at MIT. Will, who is from South Boston, is a cheeky delinquent and always hang around with bad company causing troubles.

　One day, Gerald Lambeau, a professor of mathematics at MIT, posts a difficult mathematics problem on a blackboard in the hallway. This problem was given to graduate students, actually, but the one who solves easily it was somehow anonymous. Lambeau posts another problem which is more difficult than first one to challenge the person. Lambeau happens to find a young guy writing the answer on the blackboard, and the guy is Will, the janitor. After shaking off the professor who tries to catch him, he faces trial for a brawl, but he avoids imprisonment in exchange for accepting Lambeau’s offer to be fulfilled. The offer requires him to study mathematics under Lambeau and take rehabilitation therapy. However, Will treats some therapists with mockery, so Lambeau ends up asking his college roommate Dr. Sean Maguire who is now a psychologist, to take care of Will…….

　マット・デイモンもロビン・ウィリアムスも，実は特に興味のある俳優ではありません。しかし，この映画では２人のことを愛おしく思えるほど，十分な魅力が出ています。ショーンに対しても，ウィルは簡単に心を開きません。しかし，互いに傷つけ合い本音をぶつけ合う中で，セラピストと患者の間柄を超えた，友情と呼べるほどの関係が生まれてきます。その過程が丁寧に好ましく描かれたところで，２人には，生い立ちにおける哀しい共通点があることが浮き彫りになり，観る者は共感を深めます。同時進行で，ウィルの恋や友情についても，いかにもアメリカらしいジョークやユーモアを巧みに織り交ぜながら，生き生きとした描写がなされます。

　Actually, I’m not a big fan of either Matt Damon or Robin Williams. Even so, they were so attractive that I somehow felt affection for them. Will doesn’t open up to Sean at first, too. However, they gradually make friends, beyond the relationship between a therapist and his patient, through hurting and telling their true feelings each other. The process is depicted scrupulously, agreeably, and then the fact they have the same kind of unfortunate early background comes out so the audience feel deep empathy for them. At the same time, episodes about Will’s love or friendship are depicted vividly blending typical American jokes or humors.

　１９９７年に制作されたこの映画は，マット・デイモンの出世作で，脚本の原案も本人によるものです。アマゾン・プライムでは現在，無料ではありませんが，200円ほどで視聴できます。久しぶりに観てみました。ランボーがウィルの才能について語る際，先日ふれた数学者ラマヌジャンを引き合いに出しているのに喜びました。最後に，エンド・ロールで流れる「アフタヌーン・ディライト」を聴きながら，ウィルの未来に勝手に思いを馳せて観終わりました。やっぱりいい映画でした。

　This movie, which is produced in 1997, was the one that made Matt Damon famous and based on his own script. It is not available on Amazon Prime for free, but you can see it at about 200 yen. I saw it after a long interval. I was glad to find Lambeau referring to Ramanujan Ramanujan, who I mentioned the other day, when he talks about Will’s talent. At the credit roll, I imagined about Will’s future hearing “Afternoon Delight”. I deepened my impression that this is surely a great movie.

数学者を扱った映画②「イミテーション・ゲーム／エニグマと天才数学者の秘密」: Movies about mathematicians②”The Imitation Game”

　この映画も，文系男子の理系への秘かな好奇心を満たすに十分な作品です。「イミテーション・ゲーム／エニグマと天才数学者の秘密」と題されたこの映画は，登場人物の知名度でも，出来事としての歴史上での認知度でも，前回ふれた「奇蹟がくれた数式」を上回っている点でとっつきやすく，エンターテインメント性が高いように思います。主人公は，コンピュータの理論上の原型といわれる仮想機械，チューリングマシンを開発したことで有名な数学者，アラン・チューリングです。

　This movie is also the one that satisfies someone who is humanities-oriented but interested in science secretly. This movie titled “The Imitation Game” which is released in 2014 exceeds “The Man Who Knew Infinity”, the one I mentioned last time, in some points like how well the characters are known or how much the events that happens in it are famous. so I can say this one is rather easy to have interest in it and quite entertaining.The main character is a mathematician called Alan Turing who is famous for developing a virtual machine called “Turing’s machine” which is generally recognized as an original form of computers.

　1920年代の後半，生まれつき協調性に欠けるチューリングは，ケンブリッジの寄宿舎で不遇な学生生活を送っていました。唯一，心を許した友人モーコムの影響で暗号理論に興味をもち，のめり込みますが，モーコムは結核で亡くなってしまうのでした。

　第二次世界大戦が始まった１９３９年，イギリスもドイツに宣戦布告し，ナチスの暗号機械「エニグマ」による暗号の解読チームが組まれ，チューリングはその一員として招かれます。初めはチームの仲間と衝突しがちなチューリングでしたが，やがて彼のアイデアの素晴らしさを皆が認め始めます。それでも，なかなか成果を出せないチューリングは危うく解雇されそうになるのですが……。

　In the late 1920s, Turing who was difficult to work with by nature spent his obscure student life in the dormitory of Cambridge University. He became passionately interested in cryptography through the influence of his sole friend named Christopher Morcom but Morcom died of tuberculosis.

　In 1939, The Second World War started and The U.K. also declared war against Germany, a cryptography team was organized to decrypt the Enigma machine which the Nazis developed to send coded messages, and Turing was invited to join the team. At first, he tended to clash with other members but they began to understand how his ideas were useful in due course. However, he couldn’t get closer to the goal and then he was almost fired…….

　第２次大戦の勝敗を決したといってもいい情報戦におけるサクセス・ストーリーという面では，とてもワクワクしました。しかし，胸がすくような痛快な映画とは決して言えません。なぜなら，この映画が描くもう一つの側面，チューリングの生きざまについては，とてもシリアスで、息苦しいほど救いようがなく、胸がつまる思いにさせられるからです。だからこそ，余計に観る価値のある映画だと感じています。

　この映画も、現在アマゾン・プライムで無料視聴できるようです。

　When you see this movie as a success story depicting the victory in information warfare which was actually a crucial point to decide the outcome of the Second World War, this movie could be taken as a really entertaining one. However, you can’t call it an exhilarating movie. Because this movie also makes you feel somewhat helpless and choked up over the sadness and seriousness of Turing’s life, but this is the very reason why I feel this movie is worth watching all the more.
