日本テレビは、ドラマ「最高の教師」のサイドストーリーとして、「最高の生徒」というドラマも放送しています。主人公は、隣のクラス、３年C組の女子生徒、伴ひかりです。ひかりは、母の命を奪ったのと同じ病を発症し、余命１年と宣告されているのでした。

残された時間を悔いのないものにしようと、友情にダンスに、そして恋にと全力で向き合っていくひかりの姿が描かれます。しかし、病気については友人らに打ち明けられぬままでいるひかりです。生き急ぐ彼女の言動は、ときに彼らの誤解を招いてしまうこともあるのでした。
They depict how she tries to do her best to enjoy the rest of her life hanging out with her friends, dancing, and falling in love with a boy. But she cannot tell her friends about her disease. So she looks like unreasonably eager or sometimes even reckless to her friends.
ひかりを演じる畑芽育さんの渾身の演技に胸を打たれます。有り余るような元気と、明るい笑顔が魅力的な芽育さんです。しかし、残された日々の少なさを思い、ときに涙し立ちすくむひかりの逡巡まで、陰影豊かに表現できる素晴らしい役者さんです。
I'm impressed by the great performance of the actor called Mei Hata who plays Hikari. She is so energetic and her bright smile is so attractive. Plus she can express Hikari's sadness and misgivings about her short life left with textured performance.
最高の教師と、最高の生徒、二つのドラマのストーリーが交わることは、今のところないようです。しかし、命の重みに真正面から向き合っている点は同じです。どちらのドラマにおいても、一切無駄のない、研ぎ澄まされた台詞に心を揺さぶられます。
It seems that the stories of the two dramas will never intersect for the time being. However, they are both facing significance of life squarely. In both, I’m moved by every line, which is well chosen, well considered.
すごいと思うのは、どちらのドラマにしても、観ているこちらが問いただされているような気持ちになることです。視聴者を当事者として巻き込んでいくようなこのつくりは、斬新に思えます。しかし、ドラマというものの本質は、実はそこにあるのではないでしょうか。

What I'm impressed most is that the both two dramas make me feel like they query me about the problems they depict. Such effects that make viewers feel as if they were people concerned is something new to me. However, that is, in my opinion, exactly the nature of drama.
