今度はオートバイを作ってみました。原付です。それなのに、ものすごく魅力的なたたずまいの一台です。
I gave a model motorbike a try. It's a small one with a 50cc engine. Even so, it looks supercool.
普通免許しか持たない自分は、バイクについての知識はほとんどありません。それでも子どもの頃から憧れはありました。ミスターバイクという雑誌を、ほぼ毎月買って読んでいた時期もありました。
I only have a car license, so I don't know about motorbikes so much. However, I have been interested in motorbikes since I was a kid somehow. I used to buy a magazine called Mr. Bike almost every month for some time.
ホンダドリーム50は、1997 年に発売され、2000 年に生産が終了したバイクです。ネイキッドでレーシーなそのスタイルに、いわゆるカフェレーサーという言葉が思い浮かびます。1960 年代の人気車種、CR110 カブレーシングを再現したものです。
Honda Dream 50 was produced in 1997, and the production was over in 2000. Its nakid, racing style reminds me of a word ”cafe racer”. It was designed based on CR110 Cub racing, which was quite popular in the 1960s.
バイクのプラモデルには、車とは違う難しさを感じました。もっとも大きな違いは、エンジンが剥き出しなことだと思います。ゴムのチューブで配管を再現するのも、車ではあまりないことです。
In building motorbike models, I felt different difficulties from building car ones. The biggest difference is their engines are exposed. Reproduction of the rubber tubes is another characteristic of motorbike models.
仕上げてみると、あまりのカッコよさにしびれました。バイクのプラモデルをもっと作りたいと思ってしまいました。ドリーム50 の実車にも乗ってみたくてたまりません。
When I completed it, I fell for what it looked like. I felt like building other motorbike models. I even felt like riding a real Dream 50.
調べてみると、ドリーム50 の中古車の価格は90万円ほどの模様。さすがに手は出せません。とりあえず、他のバイクのプラモデルを作って満足することにします。
I checked out the prices of secondhand Dream 50s and found it costs about 900,000 yen to buy a decent stuff. I cannot afford that. I decided I should be satisfied with building other model motorbikes.
