　 1/32の自動車模型を作るのは２回目でした。箱のふたを開けてみると、やっぱり部品数は少なくて、メッキパーツもありません。いわゆるバリが多くて、成形も大雑把に思えます。

　It was the second time for me to build a 1/32 scale model car. I found that it didn't have so many parts and there weren't plated parts as I had thought it would be. A lot of burrs were seen and most parts seemed to be roughly molded.

　組むだけならたぶん2時間もあればできそうに思います。でも、最低限ボディの塗装は必要です。それにホイールや内装も塗らないわけにはいきません。

　It may have taken me only about two hours to just build it. However, I wanted to paint the body at least. The wheels and the interior should also have been painted.

　フロントグリルやボンネット、マフラーの排気口など、本来開いているべきところが閉じています。なんやかんやで組む前にすることがたくさんあります。ピンバイスやチズルなどの工具の必要性をますます感じました。

　There were no holes where there should be such as on the radiator grill, hood, at the end of the exhaust pipe, and so on. I felt the necessity of the tools like pin vise, chisel and so on all the more.

　いざ始めてみると、穴を空けたり削ったりするのがむしろ楽しく思えます。値段が安いからこそ、失敗を恐れずに遊べます。なんだか楽しくなって、このシリーズのキットを立て続けに作るうちに工具も充実し、自分のスキルも上がってきました。

　Once I started to build it, I found making holes or cutting are fun. It is so cheap that I don't care about making mistakes in processing. I got many more tools and improved my skills while I built several kits of this series in a row.

　余談ですが、このシリーズのおかげで、日本の旧車のデザインのよさに気付きました。日野のコンテッサやいすずのベレットなど、今では乗用車を作っていないメーカーによる名車が、愛おしく思えてなりません。当時は、設計を国外のデザイナーに依頼することが多かったというのも理由にあるようです。

　By the way, I realized how beautiful Japanese old cars are thanks to this series. Now I really like some old cars such as the Contessa by Hino, the Belett by Isuzu, unfortunately those companies have ceased production and sales of passenger cars. It seems that Japanese car makers sometimes asked foreign designers to design their cars at that time.

　アリイというメーカーは、現在マイクロエースと社名は変わっているようです。それでもこのシリーズの生産は旧社名で続けている模様。今後もぜひ存続してほしいシリーズです。

　The model kit maker called Alii has changed its name to Micro Ace. Even so they still produce this series by their old name. I want them to continue producing it forever.
