もう4年も前の曲ですが、プレイリストに入れてしまいました。いまだに飽きていません。sumikaの曲の中でも地味なように思えますが、なぜか1番好きな曲です。
Although this song was released four years ago, I put it in my playlist after all this time. That’s because I still can’t get enough of it. It seems to me this song is rather inconspicuous among the songs by sumika, even so I somehow like it best.

沁みる歌詞です。勝手に切なくなります。別に思い当たるような恋をしたことがあるわけではありません。でも、男ならだれでもわかる心情が綴られている歌詞ではないでしょうか。とくに、「やたら可愛いアイドルと 見比べて下に見てみる」というところなど、思わず笑顔になってしまいます。意味深なところもあります。「右手だけが赤い あの日の僕」という部分です。全くの想像ですが、左手は女の子とつないでいたのではないでしょうか。そう思うのは、2番に次のような歌詞があるからです。
The lyrics hit home to me. I somehow feel a wistful pang. It is not that I fell in love with someone that way. However, any man can understand the feelings written in the lyrics. The part, which says “Comparing you to quite a cute idol, trying to convince myself you are not better than that”, particularly makes me smile. There are also meaningful words which goes, “My right hand was solely red on that day”. In my opinion, his left hand might have been holding her right hand. The reason why I think so is there are words in the second verse that are as follows.
白い息を空に溜めて
赤と白の手を擦った
あの日との間違い探し
正解は左手が
ポケットに居る事
My breath showed up white in the air

「あの日」の左手はきっと違う温もりの中にあったはずです。ますます切なくなります。男って女々しいです。それなのに、この曲には爽やかさを感じるから不思議です。
アレンジにも惹き込まれます。出だしのギターが奏でるフレーズでもう切ないです。遅れて入るハモンドオルガンにぐっと来たところで、裏で動くベースラインが心を揺さぶります。イントロでもう小泣きです。歌が始まってからもあのギターのフレーズが時折現れては、胸を締め付けます。サビでかすかに聞こえるバックボーカルもよいです。
気がつくとヘビロテしてしまう名曲です。
The left hand “on that day” must have been warmed in a different way. This is painful even more. How sentimental guys are! Even so this song sounds pleasant enough.
The arrangement is also fascinating. The phrase played by the guitar at the beginning is already heart-rending. After that, the Hammond Organ came in touchingly, then the bass played behind them stirs my heart. I’m almost moved to tears by the introduction. The phrase sometimes appears between the lyrics to touch my heart. The backing vocals that are heard in the chorus are also good.
It is a masterpiece for me to listen to again and again.
