　興味はあるのに聴いてないバンドってたくさんあります。その一つがYogee New Wavesでした。名前だけは聞いていたこのバンドを、ちゃんと聴いてみようと思ったきっかけは、エビ中でした。

There are quite a few bands that I’ve been interested in but I’ve never listened to. The band called Yogee New Waves is one of them. I’ve only known the name of this band, and the reason why I wanted to listen to them properly was Ebichu.

　エビ中の４thアルバム、「エビクラシー」は名盤です。５thアルバムの「MUSiC」もそうですが、全く捨て曲がありません。そして、この「エビクラシー」収録の６曲目、「さよならばいばいまたあした」の作詞・作曲をしているのがYogee New Wavesの角舘健悟さんという方でした。先日、レンタルCD屋さんに行った時に、たまたま「WAVES」というアルバムがあるのを見かけて借りてみました。

　Ebichu’s 4^th album called “Ebicracy” is something really great. There is no dull song, just like their 5^th album “MUSiC”. The 6^th track of “Ebicracy” is “Sayonara Bye Bye Mata Ashita” is written by Kakudate Kengo, a member of Yogee New Waves. The other day, I went to a rental CD shop and happened to find their Album “Waves”, so I gave it a try.

　１曲目「Ride On Wave」の出だしのギターの音でもうシビれました。２本のギターが紡ぎ出すリフはとっても瑞々しくて、透明感にあふれています。Never Young Beachの音を勝手に連想しました。２曲目の出だしや６曲目の短いインストには、何かしら細野晴臣さんのトロピカル三部作に通じるものを感じました。

　The sound of the guitar at the beginning of the first track called “Ride on Wave” did something to me. The refrains played by the two guitars are very refreshing and clear. It somehow reminded me of Never Young Beach, a Japanese band. As to the second track’s introduction and the six track, which is the short instrumental, I feel something similar to Haruomi Hosono’s “Tropical Trilogy”.

　ネットで見ると、１枚目のアルバムのタイトルが「PARAISO」であることを知り、もしかしてとの思いを強くしています。「PARAISO」はまだ聴いていないので、聴くのが楽しみです。

　I checked the band on the internet and knew that their first album’s title is “PARAISO”, so I’m a bit sure about my hunch. I haven’t listened to the album yet, and I’m very looking forward to listening to it.
