こんな新年の迎え方も縁起がいいように思います。大晦日の夜10：00から始まったサザンオールスターズの年越しライブは、2時間半にわたるものでした。幸せなことに、2021年の幕開けは、25曲もの曲を披露したこのライブを視聴しながら迎えることになりました。セトリについてはあえて書きません。ただ、いくつかの曲について触れながら、サザンオールスターズの魅力について、改めて感じたことを綴りたいと思います。
It may be auspicious to start the New Year that way. The New Year’s Eve concert by Southern All Stars started at 10:00 p.m. and they performed for about two and a half hours. Fortunately I greeted the new year while watching their live streaming in which they performed 25 numbers. I won’t write about the set list. But allow me to mention some songs to write about the attractiveness of Southern All Stars.
サザンのファンという人は多いと思います。自分自身は、未だかつて、サザンのファンだったことはありません。なぜならメンバーの名前さえうろ覚えだからです。ただサザンの歌は大好きで、ほとんどの曲は聴いています。このバンドのすごさは、相当数のファンに加え、その周辺に自分のようなファン予備軍が無数にいることだと思います。
I suppose there are a large number of fans of this band. I can’t say I’ve ever been a big fan of them. I don’t even remember exactly the name of the members. However, I really love their songs and I know almost all of them. What impresses me most about them is the fact that they attract so many people like me in addition to a considerable number of their big fans.
1曲目は「2人だけのパーティ」でした。この曲を聴いたのは、いつ以来なのか覚えてもいません。タイトルも忘れていたくらいです。なのに口ずさめます。懐かしさが込み上げます。きっと十代の頃にこの曲が収録されているアルバム「タイニイ・バブルス」（1980年リリース）を聴いていたのでしょう。ライブの進行に連れ、このバンドの楽曲が自分の人生にどれだけリンクしているか、改めて思い知らされました。サザンの曲を聴いて、いろんな場面とその時の想いが蘇ってくる人は多いに違いありません。それは、甘酸っぱい感情だったり、ほろ苦い思い出だったりすると思います。男女を問わず、今の成人の多くの方々の人生に、彼らの楽曲がどれだけクロスオーバーしているかをふと考え、少し気が遠くなるのを覚えました。

The first number was ‘Futaridake no Party’. I don’t remember when I last heard this song. I didn’t even remember the title of it. Even so, somehow I could sing it. I even felt nostalgia. I must have been listening to the album called ‘Tiny Bubbles’ which contains this song when I was a teenager, I don’t remember well though. As the concert went on, I realized again how their songs have something to do with my life. I’m certain that their songs remind so many people of various scenes and the feelings they had at those moments. Some of them may be sweet, and some others may be bitter. I was a bit overwhelmed by the idea that their songs have affected so many lives of grown-ups regardless of gender.
