イギリス人の友人、ベンはJ-POPが大好きです。先日ベンが貸してくれたＣＤは、初めて耳にする日本のバンドのものでした。SPiCYSOLというバンドの「EASY-EP」と題したアルバムです。収録曲は次の通りです。
Ben, my friend from England, loves J-POP. The CD, which he lent me the other day, is an album by a band unfamiliar for me. The CD, titled “EASY-UP”, is an album by a band called SPiCYSOL. The songs contained in it are as follows.

わずか6曲入りのミニアルバムですが、本当に中身の濃い、充実した一枚です。1曲目から衝撃を受けました。めちゃくちゃカッコよくて、しかもキャッチーです。オシャレなシティ・ポップにも聞こえますが、いい意味での泥臭さも感じます。印象が近いバンドとしては、King Gnuを挙げたくなります。ネットで調べたところ、バンドの結成時期もKing Gnuと同じ2013年のようです。
This EP has only 6 tracks, but each song is so good that I can say it is a substantial one. Their sound is extremely cool, besides catchy. They sound like a sort of stylish city pop, but also somewhat unrefined. I have an impression similar to that of King Gnu. I checked them out and found that they started their activities in the same year, 2013.
SPiCYSOL - Fresh Go [Official Audio]
甲乙つけがたい良曲ばかりですが、自分が一番ハマったのは6曲目、「Fresh Go」です。出だしのホーンのフレーズは中毒性がすごいです。ファンキーなリズムに思わず体が動きます。バカ売れしていい曲です。
It is hard for me to choose the best song because all the songs are so good, but the song I got into the most was the 6th track called “Fresh Go”. The phrase played with the horn section at the first few bars is quite addictive. The funky rhythm makes me unknowingly move. This could be a super hit.
このアルバムは、昨年のiTunes R&Bランキングで1位も獲得しているとのこと。そんな日本のバンドをイギリス人のベンに教えてもらう自分の無知が恥ずかしいです。5月にはライブツアーで福岡に来る模様。行けそうにないので悔しいです。
I found that this album topped the iTunes R&B charts last year. I’m ashamed of myself because I knew this Japanese band through Ben an English man. They've scheduled their concert tour and are going to come to Fukuoka in May. I feel bitter because I perhaps can’t go to the concert.
