サックスとボサノバってどうしてこんなに相性がいいんでしょう。サックスプレイヤー、纐纈歩美さんのアルバム「o pato」は小野リサさんによるプロデュースで、昨年の10月にリリースされたものです。とっても気持ちよくって、梅雨明けの今の青空の下、車で聴くのにぴったりな一枚です。
I’m wondering why the saxophone goes well with bossa nova so much. The album called “o pato” by Ayumi Koketsu, a sax player, was produced by Risa Ono and it was released in October last year. It makes me feel so good and also feel like listening to it in my car driving under the blue sky at this time of year, when the rainy season is over.

Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - The Girl From Ipanema
ボサノバと言えば、つい先日ジョアン・ジルベルトが亡くなったばかりです。迂闊な自分は、元奥さんのアストラッド・ジルベルトをずっと彼の娘だと思い込んでいました。2人がデュエットで歌う「ゲッツ/ジルベルト」収録「イパネマの娘」の気持ち良さは別格です。そのアルバムでのサックスの使われ方が秀逸なのは言うまでもありませんが、纐纈歩美さんの今作では、サックスがボーカルパートですから、堂々たる主役です。
Speaking of bossa nova, João Gilberto passed away the other day. To my shame, I’ve somehow had the mistaken idea that Astrud Gilberto, who is his ex-wife, is his daughter for a long time. The album “Getz/Gilberto” contains “The Girl from ipanema” sung by them in a duet and this track is something special. There is no need to say that Getz’s sax plays an important part in their album, where as in Ayumi’s album her sax has the vocal part, of course, so the instrument plays the main part here.

もちろんインストナンバーばかりですが、1曲目の出だしには、小野リサさんのコーラスが聞こえます。ボサノバでインストというと単調で退屈になりそうですが、編曲の上手さで飽きさせない仕上がりになっています。
All the tracks are instrumental, of course, but you can hear Risa Ono sing the chorus part at the beginning of the first track. Bossa nova which played only by the instruments could sound boring, but actually all the tracks are exciting because they were arranged so well.
このアルバムは、友人が自分の誕生日のプレゼントに贈ってくれたものです。最近はJ-popに偏りがちな自分に、いつもいい刺激を与えてくれます。
My best friend sent me this album as a birthday present. Recently, I tend to only listen to Japanese pop music, but he always shows something new to me.
