宵町しのぶ(吉高由里子)の気まぐれで箱根に来てしまう喜多善男(小日向文世)ですが、彼女のわがままに振り回されながらも、少しばかりの癒しを感じるのでした。しかし、帰るのをいやがるしのぶはあろうことか、所属事務所に電話し、誘拐されたとウソ泣きします。そして善男に「あいつらからお金取ろうよ」とけしかけるのでした。公表されたら事務所が困るような秘密をいっぱい知っているというのです。こうして、まんまと誘拐犯になってしまった善男は、事務所に２千万円要求するのですが……。
Kita Yoshio, who comes to Hakone due to the caprice of Yoimachi Shinobu, feels somehow healed in her company despite her selfishness. She is reluctant to go back to her real life and what she does is, of all things, calls her agency pretending to cry to tell them that she was kidnapped. Then she says, “Let’s demand a ransom from them” to Yoshio. She told him that she knows a lot of secret that could be a big trouble if it is revealed. Consequently, Yoshio ends up being a kidnapper and he finally demands 20 million yen from the agency…….

同じ頃、善男を取り巻く状況も動き出していました。しのぶの芸能事務所とつながりのある平太(松田龍平)も箱根に向かいます。平太の彼女の長谷川リカ(栗山千明)は、父親の借金の返済期限が迫り、保険をかけた善男の死を望むあまり、殺し屋(温水洋一)を箱根に送り込みます。この殺し屋は、もともとは平太が依頼し、いったん断わった人物です。善男の元妻、みずほ(小西真奈美)の調査をしている保険調査員の杉本(生瀬勝久)も、手掛かりの一つとして善男の動向を探りに箱根に来ているのでした。
In the meantime, the situation around Yoshio begins to change. Heita who somehow has something to do with the agency is heading to Hakone. His girlfriend Rika, who has to repay her father’s debt and the due date is getting close, desperately sends a hired killer to Hakone because she wants Yoshio to die in order to collect the insurance. The killer was the one whom Heita once asked to kill Yoshio but canceled afterward. Sugimoto, the insurance investigator who is investigating Mizuho, also comes to Hakone trying to get some clues by checking what Yoshio is doing.
父親の借金のために悪徳金融業者に追い込まれ、善男の死を切望するまでに自分を見失っていく長谷川リカの心の葛藤が、栗山千明さんの演技で身につまされるほどに伝わってきました。リカを追い詰める「あんしん円満リース」の社長を演じていたのは、眞島秀和さんで、その容赦ない感じは、ほんとにこんな人なのではと、勝手にそら恐ろしくなるほどでした。しかし、このドラマ以外では、温厚な役も多く、最近では同性愛者も演じており、演技の幅の広さに驚かされます。温水さん演じる元医師の殺し屋は、カッコつけてるわりに姑息でドジで的外れで、しなくていい人助けなどして本当に可笑しみにあふれていました。
I could tell through Kuriyama Chiaki’s skillful performance that Hasegawa Rika, who is cornered by loan sharks because of her father’s debt, loses control of herself so she even longs for Yoshio’s death. The boss of the loan sharks who presses Rika so hard was played by Mashima Hidekazu, and his relentlessness was something really scary so I felt that he might be a person like that. However, Mashima plays gentle characters in other dramas and he played even a gay in a recent drama so I was surprised that he can play various type of characters. The killer, who was a doctor before, was played by Nukumizu and he was really hilarious because he tried to look cool but actually is a small potato, a goof, someone makes a lot of mistakes and sometimes unnecessarily kind to others.

お父さんの借金を期日までに返せない時の覚悟ってできてるんですよね。
鷲巣みずほの身辺も、急にあわただしくなります。彼女には、今でも心に思い続けている男がいるのですが、その男こそ、喜多善男が唯一の親友だと思い込んでいる、１１年前に亡くなったという三波貴男（今井雅之）でした。ある晩、就寝前のみずほに電話がかかってきます。相手の声を聴いた途端、みずほの顔色が変わりました。そのなつかしい声は明らかに三波貴男のものだったのです。
Things get chaotic around Washizu Mizuho, too. There is a guy who she secretly adores even now, and this guy is the very person Yoshio regards as his best friend. The guy’s name is Minami Takao (Imai Masayuki) who is supposed to have died 11 years before. One night, Mizuho gets a phone call just before she goes to bed. She turns pale as soon as she hears the voice. Because the voice that sounds somehow familiar for her was obviously Minami’s.
