シーズン１を観終わったとき、大泣きしていました。王騎（おうき）という将軍の最期の姿に心を打たれたからです。こんだけ好きにさせといて居なくなるて、どがんなっとっとや、と理不尽な苛立ちさえ感じてしまいました。それだけ、感情移入してしまっていたのでしょう。逆に言えば、このアニメのキャラ付けがそれほど巧みであり、自分はまんまと乗せられてしまったのに違いありません。
I cried a lot when I finished watching season 1. That’s because I was totally moved by the death of a general called Oo Kii. I even felt irritatingly, I know it’s irrational though, how dare he go away after making me like him so much. I think I deeply had empathy for him. In other words, they successfully characterized him so well and I was just hooked on it.

シーズン1でまず描かれるのは、主人公・信と後の始皇帝・嬴政（えいせい）との出会いです。戦災孤児で下僕に過ぎなかった信と、弟に玉座を奪われ、身一つで逃れていた嬴政との出会いの顛末は、物語の面白さを予感させるのに十分なものです。それから、追っ手を振り切った2人が、ついには王宮に入り、玉座を取り戻すまでの描写を通じて、将来の大将軍と皇帝との絆がいかに深く、強く結ばれたのか、視聴者は歓喜の中で思い知ることになります。また、その過程で出会う、河了貂（かりょうてん）という子どもや、山の民と呼ばれる一族といった登場人物らが、後の伏線として物語を豊かなものにしていくのでした。
What they depict in season 1 is how Shin, the main character, and Ei Sei, who would become the first Qin Emperor, encountered. it is so interesting to know how they met because Shin was just a war orphan and worked as a servant at the time, and Ei Sei was deprived of his throne by his little brother-in-law and was running so as not to be killed. Those episodes are so intriguing that you can predict how enjoyable the story will be. In the end, the audience can joyfully realize how the bond between Shin and Ei Sei is so deep and strong through the episodes in which the two shook off the pursuers and went into the king’s palace to take back the throne. Plus other characters such as a child called Ka Ryo Ten, clans called ‘People in The Mountain’, and so on, give the story good plots that will make the story interesting all the more.
そして王騎です。先代王の時代に活躍した、秦の六大将軍の中でも、最強と謳われた武人です。人並外れた体躯で、なぜかオネエ言葉で話すこの人物に、最初は好感などもてようはずがありません。しかも、嬴政に敵対する陣営の1人として登場するからなおさらです。しかし、王騎は嬴政との問答の中でついに、王としての資質を彼の中に見出します。それからというもの、王騎は再び将軍としての武勇と知略を発揮し始めるのでした。
Then Oo Kii appeared. He was the strongest warrior among the Six Great Generals of Qin who served their previous king. He had an extraordinarily great physique and spoke in a way like a gay does, so I thought he was not likable. On top of that, he was originally on the side of the enemies of Ei Sei. However, Oo Kii finally found Ei Sei had qualities of a king while he interviewed him. From then on, Oo Kii started to show his prowess and resourcefulness as a general again.
信と王騎との出会いは戦場です。まだ、一歩兵に過ぎなかった信の戦いぶりに武人としての資質を認めた王騎は、やがて百人隊の長となった信に、重要な任務を授けます。シーズン1の終わりに、王騎は、敵の総大将との一騎打ちで傷を負い、命を落とすことになります。しかし、その死にざまには、大将軍に相応しい、崇高さがありました。いよいよ最期というそのとき、王騎は、信に自らの矛とともに、大将軍としての責務をも託したのでした。
Shin came across Oo Kii in a battlefield. Oo Kii found Shin has qualities of a warrior, even though Shin was still just an infantry at the time, and afterwards Oo Kii assigned Shin to a special mission when Shin became the leader of a 100-man unit. At the end of season 1, Oo Kii passed away due to a wound he got during the fight against the enemy’s supreme commander. However, he died with dignity as a great general. He gave Shin his own pike and also go-ahead for a great general.
王騎の将としての判断力、度量の大きさ、恐ろしいほどの強さときたらどうでしょう。ワクワクが止まりません。そこにあるのは、完璧と言っていい理想的なリーダー像です。こんな上司のためなら死ねる、そんな気にさえなってしまいます。その影響力の強さは、オネエ言葉まで真似したくなるほどです。だからこそ、シーズン１が終わったときの悲しみはハンパなく、もうよか、全部終わった、もう最終回でよかやろ、と投げやりになったほどでした。
でも、このお話の凄さは、それから更に面白くなるところです。一体どうなっているんでしょう。次回はシーズン２の感想です。
I was really impressed by Oo Kii’s capacity of judgment, magnanimity, and terrific strength. I was so excited. What I saw in him was a perfectly ideal image of a leader. I can say I can die for such a great boss. His influence was so strong that I even felt like mimicking his way of speaking. That’s because I felt so sad when Season 1 was over and even thought that everything was over, the story already has come to an end.
However, this story becomes interesting even more. I wonder how it can be though. I’m going to tell you about my impressions of Season 2.
