シーズン2のあらすじは次の通りです。
玉座の奪還に成功した政（後の始皇帝）は、宿願である中華統一の第一歩として、隣国・魏の山陽を攻略すべく、20万の軍勢を進発させる。一方、天下の大将軍を目指す信は、三百人将としてその中にいた。敵の総大将は猛将として知られる廉頗。彼自身の豪勇はもとより、廉頗四天王として知られる4人の将軍の策略と巧みな軍の進退により、秦軍は劣勢を余儀なくされる。しかし、秦の将軍・桓騎の奇策、そして臨時千人将に昇格した信、蒙恬、王賁らの活躍により秦軍はついに山陽を獲得するのだった。

シーズン1の終わりで王騎が亡くなったことは、正直、続きを観る気も失せるほどのショックでした。がっかりする気満々で観始めたシーズン２でしたが、十分後にはもう体育座りです。まず、中華統一という途方もない夢の実現に踏み出す政の姿に、応援する気持ちが止まりません。そしてもちろん、天下の大将軍を目指す主人公、信の成長にもワクワクさせられます。その上、彼のライバルともいえる、蒙恬や王賁といった若き将たちの活躍が、このお話をさらに面白くしているのです。

I started watching season 2 expecting to be disappointed, but I sat up only in ten minutes. 驚くのは、敵である魏軍の将らまで、実に魅力的なキャラクターに仕上がっていることです。廉頗にしろ、四天王にしろ、その生い立ちや背景を知るにつれ、共感を覚えることしきりです。あしたのジョーにおける力石を思う心情と、似通っていると言ってもいいかもしれません。さらに言うなら、信の魅力はまさにジョーと重なるような気がします。そうした意味で、このキングダムは青年誌に連載とは言え、まさに少年漫画の王道として、男子の心を鷲掴みにする作品と言えるでしょう。
