別府温泉の帰りにも素敵な寄り道ができました。お昼過ぎに別府から向かった先は、熊本の黒川温泉のはずれにある旅館、「山河」です。
人里離れた山中という、そのロケーションにまずワクワクします。秘湯感ハンパないです。宿泊施設になっている母屋で受付を済ませ、立ち寄り客が利用できる露天風呂に向かいました。緑の中、曲がりくねった小道を20ｍほど下りたところにあるのがその露天風呂、「もやいの湯」です。先客はおられましたが、すぐに出ていかれ、もう貸し切り状態でした。洗い場は無く、浸かるだけしかできません。本当に自然の中の露天風呂です。まだ7月なのにヒグラシが鳴いています。日常を忘れるひとときです。しばらくすると団体のお客さんが入って来られたので名残は惜しいものの出ることにしました。実はこのお風呂は混浴とのこと。今回は、ドキドキするようなことも、ドリフ的な展開もありませんでしたが、果たして女性の方で入る勇気のある方はいらっしゃるのでしょうか。いずれにせよ、立ち寄り湯で済ませるにはもったいない、そう思わせる素敵な温泉旅館でした。
We stopped by a couple of good places on the way home from Beppu hot spring. The first place we set off for from Beppu after lunch was a hot spring inn called ‘Sanga’ located in the outskirts of Kurokawa hot spring in Kumamoto.
I was exhilarated by its location that was in an out-of-the-way mountain area. It made me feel like it was kind of a genuine little-known hot spring. We checked in at the main building, which has sleeping accommodations, then we headed for the open-air hot spring which day-trippers could use. We walked about 20m down the path meandered through the woods, and the open-air hot spring called ‘Moyai no yu’ was there. We found a few other guests there, but they soon left so we were alone. There was no shower so we only soaked in the hot-spring. It was really located in a natural setting. Although it was still July, I heard the evening cicada. I was so relaxed that I forgot about the hectic daily life. After a while, a group of guests came in, so we reluctantly got out there. I heard that the open-air hot spring was actually for both men and women. This time there was no embarrassing situation nor hilarious situation, which could be seen in a comedy show, at all, but I wonder if there’s a woman who would take a hot spring bath there. Anyway, this hot spring inn was so good that I felt that just stopping by there is not enough.
黒川温泉 旅館 山河
もう夕食の時間です。黒川温泉界隈で美味しいお店はないかとネットで調べたところ、車で15分ほどのところに「花あかり」という洋食店があることがわかりました。さっそく電話で予約し、出発です。グーグルマップの案内で到着したそのレストランは、小ぶりで、その瀟洒な佇まいに、もう来てよかったと思わせてくれます。玄関に入ると、感じのいい年配の女性が迎えてくださり、奥に案内されました。家庭的な温かい雰囲気の店内は、手入れがよく行き届いています。ネットのクチコミでは、生パスタがお勧めとのことでしたが、今回はハンバーグをいただくことにしました。ソースは、デミグラス、ニンニク、ゆず風味から選べます。迷わずゆず風味にしました。注文後、料理が届く前に窓辺に立ち、雄大な山並みの景観を堪能しました。素晴らしいロケーションです。
It was about time for dinner. We checked some restaurants which serve delicious dishes around Kurokawa hot spring on the Internet and found a restaurant called ‘Hana Akari’ about 15 minutes away by car. I immediately booked the restaurant then hit the road. Google Map led us there and I found it a cozy and stylish restaurant, so I was already satisfied with it. An amiable, elderly woman welcomed us at the entrance, then she ushered us to the dining room. It has a warm, homelike atmosphere and was well-kept. According to the review on the Internet, its specialty seemed to be fresh pasta but I ordered Hamburg steak set meal. You can choose a sauce you like out of three, demi-glace, Garlic, and yuzu. I chose yuzu without hesitation. After that, we enjoyed the great view of mountains from the windows before the dishes came. The location was really impressive.
まずは、サラダです。ドレッシングのさわやかな酸味が食欲を掻き立てます。次に来たのはトマトのスープ。あっさりとしていますが味わい深いです。しばらくしていよいよハンバーグの登場です。お箸で切っていただきます。旨いです。お肉自体が美味しいところに、ゆずの風味が程よく加勢します。付け合わせの野菜がまた、いいお伴をしています。このハンバーグはいくらでも食べたいです。食べ終わって出ようとすると、わざわざオーナーシェフが出てきてご挨拶してくださいました。料理も、もてなしも、お店の雰囲気も何もかもが、大満足のお店でした。
今回、1泊2日の本当に短い旅でしたが、素敵な温泉、美味しいお店に恵まれてよい思い出ができました。九州の旅を計画している方の参考になれば幸いです。
A salad came first. The refreshingly sour taste of the salad dressing gave me an appetite. Then tomato soup was served. It has a simple taste, but was really tasty. After a while, the Hamburg steak finally came. I cut it with chopsticks and had a mouthful of it. It’s so delicious. The meat itself was tasty for sure, and on top of that, the flavor of yuzu made it tastier. The garnish of vegetables really went well with the Hamburg. I cannot get enough of it. The owner-chef came out to see us off when we were about to leave. I was more than satisfied with everything, the dishes, the hospitality, and the atmosphere.
Even though it was a short two-day trip, I made a lot of memories blessed with nice hot springs, good restaurants and so on. It would be great if these articles could be a help for someone who is planning a trip to Kyushu.
