前回の記事で００７の「死ぬのは奴らだ」についてふれました。１９７３年公開の映画の方では，ロジャー・ムーアが初めてジェームズ・ボンドを演じています。ショーン・コネリー好きの自分としては，映画の方にはさして思い入れはないものの，この映画のテーマ・ソングは大好きです。
The topic I brought up last time was about “Live and Let Die”, one of the 007 book series. The movie version of the novel released in 1973 featured Roger Moore and it was the first time for him to play James Bond. I prefer Sean Connery to him so I’m not deeply attached to this movie, but I really love the theme song of it.

The theme song “Live and Let Die” by Paul McCartney and Wings was the first rock number as a theme song of this movie series. Despite the impactive novelty of this song, the result didn’t spoil the movie’s atmosphere at all, and this fact showed the huge genius of Paul McCartney.

９０年代になって，この曲はまた注目を浴びます。アメリカのハードロックバンド，ガンズ・＆・ローゼズがこの曲をカバーし，それがヒットしたのでした。元々ハードロックに興味は薄い自分でしたが，この曲にはハマりました。おんなじローゼズでも，ストーン・ローゼズの方が好みの自分でしたが，このカバーの元ネタに負けない魅力に驚き，ガンズのアルバムも聴いたものでした。
This song attract public attention again in the 90’s. Guns N’ Roses, a hard rock band in the USA, covered this song and it became a hit. I was actually not interested in hard rock so much but I was into this song. Speaking of “Roses”, I’d rather The Stone Roses at that time, but I was surprised at how good the cover version was so I listened to their album, too.
