なぜか飽きない曲：YOASOBI「群青」 Songs I can’t get enough of: ‘Gunjyo’ by YOASOBI

　よさが止まりません。聴くほどに好きなところがどんどん見つかっていきます。一部の隙も無い名曲です。９月1日に配信リリースされたYOASOBIの「群青」から抜け出せずにいます。

　It’s so good. The more I listen to it, the more I find its good points. This song is an impeccable masterpiece for sure. I can not get enough of ‘Gunjyo’ by YOASOBI, released online on September 1.

　Ikuraさんの声は不思議な魅力に満ちています。一聴すると、ボカロのように無機質ですが、聴くほどにエモーショナルに響きます。優しい声質なのに、息遣いや急き立てるような歌い方で見事な緊張感を生み出します。声質を変えずに広い音域を自在に上下するスキルには驚かされます。わずかに伸ばす母音の美しさに息を飲みます。

　Ikura’s voice is filled with mysterious fascination. When you listen to her voice only a few times, it may sound inhuman like that of vocaloid, but you’ll find it emotional if you listen more. Her voice quality seems to be that of a kind person but it is surely able to produce a feeling of tension with her breathing and the way of singing which sounds like hurrying listeners. I’m impressed with the fact that her voice covers a wide range without changing her voice quality. The beauty of her drawn vowels takes my breath away.

　これまでに配信されたYOASOBIの5曲全てが、とんでもない名曲です。億を超える再生回数も納得です。どれも、短調を基本とした、シリアスに響く楽曲です。本来、明るいアゲアゲ曲が好みの自分ですが、彼らの曲に見事にハマってしまっています。

　All five songs that have ever been released are awesome masterpieces. It’s not really surprising that some of them has gotten over 100 million access. They are basically composed in minor key so they sound rather serious. I’m actually a sort of person who likes lively songs in major which makes me keyed up, even so I’m now really into their songs.

このドラマ、よき：三浦春馬さん、松岡茉優さんW主演「おカネの切れ目が恋のはじまり」 This drama is so good: ‘Okane no Kireme ga Koi no Hajimari’ starring Miura Haruma and Matsuoka Mayu

　名作です。純粋にドラマとして2020年を代表する一作と言っていい面白さです。正直、三浦春馬さんのことがあって、観始めるのにもためらいました。観ないでいる人もきっと多いと思います。しかし、笑って泣けるこのドラマは、観ている間見事にそんな背景を忘れさせてくれます。それでも、面白ければ面白いほど、4話で終わることが、そして、この素晴らしい俳優さんの演技を見納めになることが悔しくて、やっぱり哀しい気持ちになるのは事実です。

　It’s a masterpiece. It’s so enjoyable that I can say this drama is representative of 2020. Honestly, I hesitated to watch it because of what happened to Miura Haruma. I guess there are some people who hold back from watching it. This drama sometimes makes you laugh and sometimes makes you cry so there is no time to think about the background. However, the more the story is interesting, the more I feel sorry that I won’t be able to watch his great performance as an actor anymore. So I end up feeling so sad.

　「中堅おもちゃメーカーの経理部で働く九鬼玲子（くき・れいこ）は、とある過去が原因で『清貧』という価値観で生きるアラサー女子。金銭感覚が独特で、お金の価値ではなく、自分が愛する“モノ”の本質を大切にして暮らしている。その玲子が勤めるおもちゃメーカーの御曹司・猿渡慶太（さるわたり・けいた）は、『浪費』にかけては天賦の才能を持った男。営業部に在籍していたが、浪費のしすぎで玲子がいる経理部に異動になる。そんな金銭感覚が両極端な『清貧女子』と『浪費男子』が出会い、ひょんなことから鎌倉にある玲子の実家に慶太が住み込むことになり…。おカネ修行を通してひと夏の恋物語が繰り広げられていく完全オリジナルラブコメディだ。」

　“Kuki Reiko, who works for a middle-ranking manufacturer of toys, is in her thirties and she lives up to a motto ‘honest poverty’ due to what happened to her in the past. Her sense of the value of money is so unique that she treasures the essence of her ‘possessions’ rather than its price. Saruwatari Keita, who is the son of the president of Reiko’s company and his ‘extravagance’ is something to the extent that can be called his natural gift. He was in the sales department but moved to the accounting department due to his over extravagance. Those extremes, ‘an honest poor girl’ and ‘an extravagant boy’ meet and end up living together because Keita started to live in Reiko’s parent’s house in Kamakura by chance. This is a totally original romantic comedy which describes a love story through learning how to spend money during the summer.’

　良いドラマの定石通り、キャラの立ち方が素晴らしいです。松岡茉優さん演じる九鬼玲子の清貧ぶり、そして三浦春馬さん演じる猿渡慶太の浪費家ぶりのいずれも常識を著しく逸脱しており、ちゃんと可笑しみの域に達しています。そして、もちろんプロットも巧みに編まれていて、分かり合えるはずもない2人が次第に心を寄せ合っていくための出来事が、面白おかしく、納得できる形で積み上げられていきます。

　This drama is marked by vivid characterization as all the good dramas are. Kuki Reiko, played by Matsuoka Mayu, is so contented with honest poverty and Saruwatari Keita, played by Miura Haruma, is so extravagant that they go extremely against common sense to the extent that you may feel it hilarious. Plus, the plots are woven well enough that the occasions which make the two people grow fond of each other are depicted so hilariously and convincingly.   

　やはり良いドラマは、よい言葉にあふれています。九鬼玲子の口癖、「よき」、「綻びが見える」、「お迎えする（新しいものを購入する）」など、聴くたびにワクワクして笑顔になってしまいます。猿渡慶太については、言葉というより、笑顔が沁みます。そして、その笑顔は三浦春馬さんの魅力そのままです。あんな邪心のない笑顔で魅せる役者さんはちょっと他に思い浮かびません。

　明日の最終回が楽しみでもあり、残念でもある、そんな複雑な気持ちです。

　Sure enough, a good drama is full of witty remarks. Reiko’s favorite phrases like “yoki (goody)”, “hokorobi ga Mieru (there’s something wrong with it)”, “Omukae suru (purchase a new thing)” and so on, and they make me smile and exhilarated every time I hear them. Regarding Saruwatari Keita, I’m impressed by his smile rather than his words. The smile is his characteristic. I can’t come up with any other characters who can smile as innocently as he does.

　I have a mixed feeling about watching the tomorrow's episode. I’m not only looking forward to watching it, but also so sorry that it will be the last one.

レディ・プレイヤー１のあの人が主役に：森崎ウィン、高城れにW主演「彼女が成仏できない理由」(NHK) A drama starring the actor who appeared in the movie called ‘Ready Player 1’: ‘Kanojyo ga Jyobutsu Dekinai Riyu’ (NHK) starring Morisak Win and Takagi Reni

　古いアパートに住む青年と、その部屋に取り憑いている若い女性の幽霊の物語。この設定だけをみると、2013年放送の香取慎吾さん主演のドラマ「幽かな彼女」を思い浮かべる人が多いと思います。今を時めく上白石萌歌さんや広瀬すずさんが中学生として出演していた、とっても面白いドラマでした。

　It is a story about a young guy and a female ghost that haunts in his apartment. I guess that the setting reminds many people of a 2013 drama called ‘Kasuka na Kanojyo’ starring Katori Shingo. The drama was so enjoyable, plus some of young actors like Kamishiraishi Moka, Hirose Suzu, who are very popular now, appeared in it as junior high students

　二番煎じではと思いながら観始めたこのドラマでしたが、ぐいぐい惹き込まれています。NHKで毎週土曜夜11時30分に放送中のドラマ「彼女が成仏できない理由」は、レディ・プレイヤー１でダイトウ役を演じた森崎ウィンさん、そしてももいろクローバーZの高城れにさんの2人が主役です。

　I started to watch this drama even though I was worried that it might be a warmed-over version of the old one, but I’m actually into it now. The drama called ‘Kanojyo ga Jyobutsu Dekinai Riyu’, which is broadcast at 11:30 p.m. every Saturday, features Morisaki Win who played Daito in the movie called ‘Ready Player 1’ and Takagi Reni who is a member of the idol group called Momoiro Clover Z.  

彼女が成仏できない理由 ももクロ 高城れに

　ミャンマー人のエーミンは、幼少より日本の漫画を愛読して育ち、漫画家になることを夢見て来日します。とあるオーディションで奨励賞を受賞し、漫画の専門学校の特待生として来日した彼でしたが、手持ちのお金は乏しく、不動産屋に紹介されるまま、異様に家賃の安いアパートに暮らし始めてしまいます。その部屋は案の定な訳あり物件で、若い女性の幽霊が憑いているのでした。その幽霊が見えるだけでなく、なぜか普通に会話もできてしまうエーミンでしたが……。

　Eimin, a Burmese young guy, who has grown up reading Japanese manga since he was a little boy, came to Japan dreaming to become a cartoonist. He achieved an Encouragement Award in an audition, then he came to Japan on a scholarship but he didn’t have enough money so he started to live in an apartment with a strangely low rent which was recommended by a real estate agency. Sure enough, it was a kind of stigmatized property haunted by a young female ghost. He somehow can not only see the ghost but also have conversations with her…….

　部屋に取り憑いている幽霊の正体が分かったところから、物語は俄然面白くなります。生前の彼女は漫画家、それもエーミンが憧れていた、タカナシレイという漫画家だったのです。彼女がなぜ、命を失ったのか、そして成仏できない理由とは何なのか、知りたい謎がちゃんとあります。全6話という短いお話ですが、あと３話でどうなっていくのかワクワクしています。

　主題歌はすごい人がプロデュースしています。海外で高い評価を受け、世界的に活躍しているミュージシャン、トクマルシューゴさんです。

　The story became interesting even more after revealing what the ghost was like. She was a cartoonist when she was alive, on top of that, she was the very cartoonist whom Eimin had admired for a long time, and her name was Takanashi Rei. There are mysteries that intrigue viewers for sure, for example, why she has died, or why she haunts there, and so on. The series has only six episodes and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story is going through the three episodes left.

　The theme song was produced by a big name. His name is Tokumaru Shugo, a musician who plays on a global stage being highly evaluated overseas.

スマスマ仕込みの成り切る力？：香取慎吾さん主演のシットコム「誰かが、見ている」 Did he developed a talent for becoming a character in SMAP×SMAP?: ‘Dareka ga Miteiru’, the Sitcom Starring Katori Shingo

　ハマるのに時間がかかったのは、大河ドラマ「新選組」でも同じでした。歴史小説をさんざ読みまくっていただけに、辛口な目線で見始めたというのもありました。面白がるものかと思っていたのが、堺雅人さん演じる山南敬助のエピソード辺りからどんどん面白くなって、最後は香取慎吾さん演じる近藤勇をはじめ、全ての登場人物が愛おしくてたまらなくなりました。

　I remember that I also took time to get into the drama called ‘Shinsengumi’, one of the NHK’s annual series of historical dramas. I read a lot of historical novel and I tended to be judgmental at those kind of dramas at that time. I tried to criticize it at first but I began to be interested in the drama about the episode of Yamanami Keisuke played by Sakai Masato and finally end up becoming fond of not only Kondo Isami played by Katori Shingo but also all the other characters.

　この番組にハマれるかどうかは、シチュエーション・コメディというものを面白がれるかどうかにもかかっています。古くは「奥様は魔女」から、近年の「アイ・カーリー」や「超能力ファミリーサンダーマン」まで、日本でも数多くのシットコムが放送されてきました。テレビ番組でありながら演劇的な要素が多いシットコムは、演劇にあまり興味のない自分にとってなかなかノリづらいものです。

　Whether you are into it depends on whether you are the type of person who enjoys situation comedy. So many sitcoms have been broadcast in Japan, too, from the old one called ‘Bewitched’ to the recent ones like ‘i carly’, ‘The Thundermans’ and so on. Even though sitcom is a TV program, I have a feeling that it has a lot of elements of play and that is the reason why I can’t enjoy sitcom because I’m not overly interested in play.

　そんな自分がこの和製シットコムを面白がれたのは、ひとえに、役になり切る香取慎吾さんの演技力のおかげだと思います。昔からスマスマでの香取さんのモノマネが楽しみでした。ビストロでのゲストのモノマネはもちろん、カツケンやカニ蔵といったキャラクターの可笑しみは、観ただけで吹き出すものがありました。「誰かが観ている」の舎人真一はもちろんオリジナルのキャラですが、スマスマで培われた成り切る力がここで発揮されているに違いありません。

　シットコムが苦手な人にもぜひ、試してみてほしい番組です。

　The very reason even someone like me enjoyed this Japanese sitcom so much is Katori’s acting ability who becomes the character perfectly. I had loved his skill at mimicry that he had shown in the TV program called SMAP×SMAP. His impersonations of the guests in a section called Bistro Smap and some special characters like Katsuken, Kanizo and so on, were so hilarious that I used to burst out laughing in spite of myself. Toneri Shin-ichi, the main character in ‘Dareka ga Miteiru’ is the original character, of course, but I believe he shows his talent for becoming a roll that he developed in SMAP×SMAP.

　I want people who don’t like sitcom to give this one a try.

観れば観るほど面白い！香取慎吾さん主演のシットコム「誰かが、見ている」 You’ll Be into It after Watching a Couple of Episodes: ‘Dareka ga Miteiru’, the Sitcom Starring Katori Shingo

　第一話を観終えた時点では戸惑っていました。主人公、舎人真一のキャラがまだよくつかめなかった上に、一話完結なのか、回を追うにつれて物語が展開していくのか全く見えなかったからです。でも、観れば観るほど面白くなります。後半はずっとくすくす笑っていました。三谷幸喜さん脚本・演出、香取慎吾さん主演のコメディ「誰かが、見ている」をAmazon Prime Videoで視聴しました。

　I was not sure whether it’s worth watching or not. I couldn’t understand the character of Toneri Shin-ichi enough, plus I didn’t know whether each episode stands alone or not. However, I was into it after watching a couple of episodes. I couldn’t stop giggling in the second half. I watched a comedy called ‘Dareka ga Miteiru’ written and directed by Mitani Koki and starring Katori Shing on Amazon Prime Video.

　「埼玉のとあるマンションの一室に暮らす青年、舎人真一（香取慎吾）は何をやっても失敗ばかり。いつも新しい仕事を見つけては、すぐにクビになってしまう日々を過ごしていた。一方、隣の部屋の住民・粕谷次郎（佐藤二朗）は、そんな真一の様子が気になって仕方がない。なんと次郎は、偶然見つけた“壁の穴”から、真一の様子を覗き見るのを密かな楽しみとしていたのだ。そんなある日、次郎の娘・あかね（山本千尋）が壁の穴の存在に気づいてしまったことで、事態は急展開。次郎の密かな楽しみが、世界中の人を巻き込んだ大騒動へと発展していく……。」

　“Toneri Shin-ichi”, a young guy who lives in a condo in Saitama prefecture, always get into trouble. Every time he finds a job, he ends up being fired. In the meantime, Kasuya Jiro (Sato Jiro), who lives in the room next to Shin-ichi’s, is somehow intrigued by the behavior of Shin-ichi. Surprisingly, Jiro has a secret pleasure and it is peeping into Toneri’s room to see what Shin-ichi is doing through a ‘hole on the wall’ that he found by chance. One day, his daughter Akane (Yamamot Chihiro) notices the hole there and the situation suddenly changes. Jiro’s that secret pleasure leads to a big fuss all over the world…….”     

　アマプラで、このドラマに低い評価をつけている人々の多くが、第一話で視聴をやめているように思います。登場人物一人一人のキャラクターや関係が分かってくるにつれ、どんどん面白さは増していきます。舎人真一のキャラがとっても愛おしく思えてきます。もう止まらなくなって結局、全八話を一気に見てしまいました。

　I have an impression that many of the people who put a low value on it only watched the first episode. The more episodes you watch, the more you are into it for sure. You’ll become fond of the Shin-ichi’s character, too. I couldn’t stop and end up watching all the eight episodes at a stretch.

オンラインライブレビュー：sumika Online Live「Little Crown 2020」 An Online Concert Review: ‘Little Crown 2020’ by sumika

　

　会場はなんと木下サーカスの大テントでした。sumikaの4人を囲むように、ストリングス、ホーンセクション、コーラスのみんなが円を作り、お互いに見合いながら演奏していました。セットリストは以下の通りです。

　The venue for the concert was a big tent for Kinoshita Circus. Surrounding the 4 members of sumika, musicians like strings, horn section and backing vocalists performed facing each in a circle. The set list is as follows.

　1曲目のAnswerでいきなり連れていかれました。ファーストフルアルバムの1曲目でもあるこの曲は、始まりにふさわしい盛り上げ曲です。sumikaの曲はどれもキャッチーですが、この曲については、これが嫌いな人はよほど気難しい人では、とさえ思ってしまいます。

　I was soon carried away by the first song ‘Answer’. This song is contained in their first full album as the first track and it is just right to start the concert with because it easily makes audience keyed up. Every song by sumika is so catchy but this song is something special so I even think that a guy who doesn’t like this song is a hard-to-please person.

　初期のE.P.の曲から最新のシングルまで、バランスよく選んでいます。とはいえ、正直12曲では物足りませんでした。8曲目のSummer Vacationが終わって、「……ラストスパートかけて行こうか！」と聞いたときには耳を疑いました。聴きたい曲がもっといっぱいあるだけにめちゃくちゃ残念でした。

　They did well in choosing songs from their early E.P. through the latest single. Even so, twelve songs were not enough for me. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard him say “……Let’s put on a last spurt now”. I was really disappointed because there were so many songs that I wanted them to play.

　数あるバンドの中でも、sumikaは歌と演奏の上手さが際立ったバンドのように思います。このライブについても、映像を見ずに音だけを聴くと、スタジオ録音ではと思ってしまうほどです。

　素晴らしいパフォーマンスだっただけに、いい意味で欲求不満なコンサートでした。

　Among all the rock bands in Japan, sumika is second to none in singing and playing music. As for this concert, I took the songs as the ones recorded in a studio if I just listen to them without watching the screen.

　Their performance was so good and that’s why I all the more felt, in a good sense of course, frustrated at the concert.

今夜はsumikaのオンラインライブ：シングル「絶叫セレナーデ」今さらレビュー Sumika will have an online concert tonight: My own impression of their single ‘Zekkyo Serenade’ after all this time

　開演は午後8時30分、今夜開催される、ロックバンドsumikaのオンラインライブを楽しみにしています。2019年3月発表のアルバム「Chime」以来、フルアルバムをリリースしていないsumikaですが、CMソングやドラマの主題歌、映画の主題歌などを手掛けてきています。映画「ぐらんぶる」の主題歌として、7月29日に配信された「絶叫セレナーデ」はsumikaらしさが爆発した1曲です。

　It will start at 8:30 p.m. I’m really looking forward to sumika’s online concert which will take place tonight. Although sumika haven’t released full albums, they’ve actively worked on a lot of things such as music in advertising, the theme song for a drama, the theme song for a movie and so on. ‘Zekkyo Serenade’, which was released on July 29 as the theme song for the movie called ‘Granblu’, is the one characteristic of them.

　サザンの歌にサザンらしさがあるように、ミスチルの歌にミスチルらしさがあるように、sumikaの歌にはsumikaらしさがあるのが、このバンドの凄みです。この曲にも強烈にそれが感じられます。

　Like the songs by Southern All Stars show something characteristic of Southern All Stars, the songs by Mr. Children show something characteristic of Mr. Children, and sumika’s songs also show the characteristics of sumika so I feel this band is awesome. This song ‘Zekkyo Serenade’ is a typical one that makes me feel that way.

　リリース後の8月1日、ダウンタウンの音楽番組「HEY！HEY！NEO！　MUSIC CHAMP」でこの曲は披露されました。ロックバンドらしいワイルドさを感じさせないところが、浜田さんにいじられていて笑顔になりました。でも、そんなところも彼らの魅力の一部だと思います。うろ覚えですが、ボーカルの片岡健太さんは、バンドのキャラクターとしては正反対に思えるクリープハイプの尾崎世界観さんと仲がよいとの記事を以前見たことがあります。それだけで面白い人決定と言いたくなります。

　On August 1, They first sang this song in a TV music program called 「HEY！HEY！NEO！　MUSIC CHAMP」MC’d by Down Town just after they released it. Hamada teased them about their unobtrusiveness as a rock band and it made me smile. However, that’s part of their attractiveness, I suppose. I’m not sure, but I think that I saw an article which said the vocalist Kataoka Kenta is a good friend of Ozaki Sekaikan, the vocalist of the band called CreepHyp whose character is the very opposite of smika’s. If so, he is an interesting person for sure.
